I had wondered if anyone checked out this Pokemon World Online game?
Apparently, it's a Pokemon MMORPG. PVP(Player VS Player, or Battling, for those unfamiliar), Quests, a Tutorial Island, Game Wide Chat/Trade/Help system, Multiple area's (Johto and Kanto) as well as Custom areas.
Sound's too good to be true!
Then i find out the game has been in beta since its release date. December 2007.
And then my bulbasaur (which just so happens, your first pokemon follows you around in the world as a visual pet), levels up enough and get's leech seed. I apply it to a Rattata, and it does its thing "Rattata was seeded" "Leech Seed blah blah blah" But wait... His HP didnt move, and neither did mine... So i talk in "All" chat which spans the entire game world i believe, and ask "Anyone know why my Leech Seed isn't working?"
<Random Chatter>: Oh it's part of the "Broken Ability" list
So i go on there wiki, and its organized alphabetically, with quite a few abilities under each letter it seems.
The game is run with quite little staff in the developers department. It's run with the C++ language, and apparently they have not found enough dependable, trustworthy developers to join up. Unpaid.
So, while its a great idea and the game has quite alot of potential, its been in Beta for 5 years. And is quite understaffed for bug fixes. And apparently there is quite the listing of bugs that need fixing.
If i knew any C++ i'd be over there helping right now. But i dont know if i'll be playing it much anymore. And Rattata's were 1 shotting my bulbasaur left and right with Tail Whip. I dont know if that sounds proper or not, but it was surely aggravating LOL.
They say it's come light years from 2009. So apparently somethings getting done, its just taking quite some time. So unless you know C++ programmers that work for free LoL. Trustworthy ones at that. The last one they said screwed the server over or something. Blah, now i sound like im recruiting hahaha. NO, but you get the jist.
Either way, That's my review. I'm neither for, or against it, but i think i would play if it had more staff. Each battle also gives you money. And there's quite a trade economy in the game apparently too.
What do you guys think? Ever heard of it? Would you play it even with the 5 years of beta and still massive amounts of bugs?
