    Hi!

I saw a question in the discord server about 24 hours ago about breeding mechanics, and after answering it with a wild assumption, I decided to look into something. The question was:
question about breeding. when breeding with Destiny knot for a 6x31 pokemon. do i have both parents be 5x31 same or 5x31 different?

I know that in this day and age, with current games, it saves time to just make a pokémon have max IVs through different means, such as using Bottlecaps. But ignore that for the sake of the question!

I said it was easier to get an egg with maxed 6 IVs if both parents have the same 5 stats with max IVs. I think I was wrong!

Now, I always try to understand why I might be wrong about something like this. I made this discovery after generating possible combos and looking over the statistics:
If the parents each have five perfect IVs and you breed them with a Destiny Knot, you are twice as likely to get an egg with six naturally perfect IVs when the parents share all but one max IV stat.
So it's in your best interest, after gen 6, to breed with this in mind!

Feel free point out anything that might add onto this or contradict it! I included some more detailed results in the spoiler below.
