Okay, so people have telling me for years my Pokemon don't look like Pokemon, and now it's actually becoming a problem because I want to make a game and people think the designs are screwed up or something.

So, I thought I'd post my sprites here.

Please, don't just say 'they don't look like Pokemon/they look like yugioh/final fantasy/whatever. Tell me WHY and what I can do to fix it.

NOTE: These aren't all my fakemon. I have some whose designs I'm content with and don't want to change much, and thus I'm not posting them here to get ripped apart by angry fakemon elitists.

Tobalg. It's meant to have a tribal theme. I really like the piercings, but is he not 'lithe' enough? It kinda seperates him from Toxicroak (they're both poison frogs)

Shamor. Not sure what's wrong with this one.

Casowal. Okay, how does this NOT look like a Pokemon?

Meltaly... I need more spriting advice than design advice on this one.

    WIP ALERT

Uhh, yeah, major WIP. Obviously does no look like a Pokemon at all yet. When I reference from something else like this, I usually do the basics first then make it look like a Pokemon. Unfortunatly I'm at the Pokemonizing stage now and I'm stuck for ideas. It's Steel/Fighting (doesn't look it at all...) and obviously based on Pokey/Porky.

Redelune: Again, more spriting advice than design needed... or perhaps how to make it look more like a Bug/Dark type?

hey,uhhh...they are preatty cool, but u gotta know that if u want to make a pokemon, don't use weapons!pokemon doesn't use weapons!(the only "weapon" is a stick LOL)

Marowak uses a bone, but you're right. Redelune was for a contest where the prompt was a scythe-wielding Pokemon, though. Is there any way I could change the scythe to make it more Pokemony?

Incredible! Your sprites are beautiful! One of the reasons that they don't look like Pokémon sprites is because they are just a bit bigger, even if you are going for a D/P style. Also, your shading style is different than Nintendo's, and your sprites have a lot more detail. So, basically, try to make your sprites worse. :3

As for individual sprites... For Tobalg, it needs to be a bit smaller. That's all I can think of when it comes to Tobalg.

For Shamor, its right arm (in our perspective) looks a bit odd, and so does its tail and legs.

For Casowal, it doesn't look like a Pokémon because it like it's in an awkward pose, sort of like what you would see in Final Fantasy. Also, its shading and palette is in a different style, different than Nintendo's.

As for Meltaly, I can't think of much because I have not much idea what it is, but it looks perfect to me. :3

Lastly, Redelune; like "KeybladeRoxas" mentioned, the scythe adds a bit to the Dark-type Pokémon style, but it makes it looks a bit too deadly. Also, as I mentioned for Casowal, there is a difference in style, but this time mainly for the wings. Maybe to make it look more like a Bug-type, you can make its eyes a bit bigger and round, but still make the eyes look angry.

I love all your sprites. They are completely better than most I've seen, and Esmas is right, their shading is different from regular Pokemon, they are actually better. Also make them 80x80 (DP size) or 64x64 (RBELFFR size I think).

As for Redelune, I was thinking maybe you can make it like a leaf shaped sort of like a scythe. *goes to paint*

This is just an idea I had. I'm sure you can make it much better as you are a better spriter than me.

    But yeah...Nice Fakemon though.

I'd like to keep my style of spriting while having the designs look like Pokemon. I'll change the shading around a bit on Redelune and Casowal, make Tobalg shorter and fix Redelune's scythe (I like Raoto's idea)
