Hi. So me and my girlfriend started this stupid playful quest a week ago: she has Saphire and I have Ruby; we started the game all over again and planned to battle each other in a week or two. Geek love? Ahah.

So my question is, what Pokémon do you think I should raise, and why? And if you could give me a moveset for every suggestion... I may love her, but I still want to detroy her! Kindly.

Swampert is a good start. Being very sturdy and fairly strong (and with only one weakness), he is always a solid choice for ingame or competitive teams.

Breloom is another solid choice. You'll have to train Shroomish up into the mid fifties which sucks, but once you get Spore with Focus Punch, you're in business. Two filler moves round out the moveset nicely--Return and Leech Seed are probably the best choices.

Metagross is a great choice. It can take almost any attack (even unSTABed Fire Blasts and Earthquakes won't knock it out) and dish out punishment with Meteor Mash. From there, things get tricky since you only have one Earthquake TM. Metagross probably doesn't need it though since you have Swampert to handle Fire, Electric, and Steel types. From there, Sludge Bomb, Psychic, Return, Agility, and Shadow Ball are reasonable move choices.

Starmie is a very diverse attacker with Surf, Psychic, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam (Recover is a good alternative to Psychic).

Heracross is the strongest psychical attacker besides Slaking that you can find given that 120 base power STAB Megahorn. Add in Return/Rock Tomb, Brick Break, and Bulk Up and you have yourself a strong physical attacker.

That really just scratches the surface. I kind of assumed that this isn't competitive in the sense of this forum (EVs, natures, etc.) so I went with a more ingame approach. However, if this was a bad call on my part, I can update this with more competitive things. However, with no way to RNG breed or clone (and with little time to breed with or without RNG to begin with), I stuck with the basics. Just make sure to have at least one resistance to each type and not to load up on weaknesses.

I am not looking for any special training, at least for now. I have chosen Treecko, which I think will do great against her Mudkip (Sceptile x Swampert). Otherwise I thought of Aggron instead of Metagross, which is only available after beating Steven in the Pokémon League. Starmie is a pretty good idea, but I wonder if it is better to spend the time and effort in catching, raising and evolving a Feebas?
