I'm working on a vanilla+ hack of heartgold and i've made a lot of progress, but I just loaded up the rom in desmume for the first time recently and it and every backup version i've made along the way freeze on a white screen just a few seconds in (it's consistently frame 165 if i use the frame counter feature). so far I only edited encounter tables and some trainers, giving a few bosses an additional pokemon and changing some levels and movesets. but even my earliest backup, which had only changed a few early route encounter tables, freezes in the exact same way. it also doesn't load in the universal randomizer, which i tried to use to change evolutions, but it did load fine in ppre to do them manually. I tried copying the sdsme data file into a new folder with a fresh rom renamed to match, and it crashed the same way, so it's an issue with something i did along the way in sdsme. and it's not like my sdsme ruins every heartgold it touches, i took another fresh rom and changed the encounters on route 29 to test and that was perfectly playable with said changes in tact. any ideas on how i can salvage this project, or am I going to have to start over? i haven't tried using other emulators or real hardware, but i'm not going to release a hack that doesn't work on probably the most popular ds emulator anyway.
