6th Gen Help with cloning (RESOLVED)

[Far Way]

I am trying to clone a shiny Gyarados in ORAS. I have two 3DS systems. One is the original 2011 model 3DS (North American region) and the other is the New 3DS (Japanese region). The game on the NA 3DS is Pokemon Y and the game on the JPN 3DS is Pokemon Omega Ruby. Both games are in English and have no updates. I did the usual thing: trade with the 3DS not holding the Pokemon as the initiator and turn off the 3DS holding the Pokemon 4 seconds after the trade, but the Pokemon is not cloned. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

UPDATE: I'm able to clone with my sister's American 3DS and her copy of Pokemon X. Consider this resolved, do not reply as I have already solved the problem. Thanks.

I don't want to have someone do it for me though. I actually want to be able to clone Pokemon without having to use a service.
