um....have a well balanced team, and make sure that your team is at least 5 levels over the level of wild pokemon.

Spend time training your Pokemon, spend time fighting and defeating wild Pokemon to help move things along.

Exp. share is a great tool to training up more than one Pokemon too.

Also, hold out from evolving your Pokemon to make their stats better.

What kind of hints are you exactly asking for?

I guess the best thing to do is to have a well planned party to be sure you are ready for anything.
