4th Gen hey, love pearl so far. few questions though

Yeah so i picked it up, pretty cool. first off, to evolve a magickarp to a garados, you just need to level him up to 20? and to make a haunter to a gengar, you just trade him back and fourth?

Yeah.
The old Pokémon still evolve like the used to in the previous games.

Yes, Magikarp evolves at 20, and yes, Haunter evolves upon being traded, as well as Kadabra.

cool, what if i leave my karp' at the day care? will he not learn the moves and just level up then? My gastly was at 23, i left him there till 25 and then he evolved.

Do it, then use him once in battle, then he'll evolve.

IT doesn't really matter. I hate trying to level up Magicrap- er...I mean Magikarp in battle. XP
