4th Gen HG and SS Question

My friend wants to trade over his "dream team" from his platinum to his Soul Silver at the begining of the game. I tried to convince him that this was cheating and takes away from the challenge of the game. But he Insists that its not and that I should ask around and find out if thats possible, being how he forgot how to use the internet. :/ So please help. THANKS!!!

It's not really cheating, and yes it can be done with 2 DS systems, but it kind of ruins the fun of things.

I for one, loved Johto more than any other regions, the colors of the pokemon, actual challenge *cough* of the gyms, as well as probably the longest storyline (though not the best) of all the games. Why would you want to fly through it in 12 or less hours? It's an amazing game, your friend can do what they want but I for one wouldn't do it.

It is possible to trade between DPPt and HG/SS early in the game. You're allowed to do so after receiving your PokéDex and before the first Gym. It kind of does ruin the fun of the game to trade over his entire team to complete the game, but nothing stops him from doing it. If it is what he wishes, then so be it considering it is his game after all.

Personally, I would have enjoyed taking my time and building a new "dream team" through Johto, but that's just me. The only problem your friend may encounter is that his Pokémon from Platinum will disobey him as he will not be the original trainer. This will of course occur until he earns enough badges for them to obey depending on what level they may be at.
