"Got the app up and running this evening, then got myself a Charmander as my starter. Caught a couple more in my living room, with a Rattata in my office.

"My little adventure downtown netted me around 200 Poké Balls with all the Pokéstops...

It's actually pretty lucrative if you can get to a heavily populated area. Or, you know, a place with a lot of sculptures as is the case with my city. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The game was crashing a lot when I first set out to play today, but I ended up catching a lot of different Pokémon - including a Ghastly and a Jynx! :> Pretty darn proud of myself. Aaaaand I just caught a Tentacool while I was sitting here. Hooray!"

July 8, 2016:

"The most notable thing that happened was I caught this little guy [Dratini] RIGHT as I was about to exit out of the app last night...

BOOM.

Honorable captures today have included:
-Pinsir
-Jigglypuff
-Exeggcute

...and I evolved my Eevee into a Vaporeon. Though I would have much, much rather had a Flareon. Why does Eevee's Pokédex description even mention evolutionary stones in this game? Urgh. :|"

July 9, 2016:

"Other than a Hypno, I haven't yet caught anything new today.

I did, however, manage to take over a couple gyms and made myself the leader. One place I lasted for all of around 5 minutes before I was overthrown again, and one gym I still hold 10 hours later!

Getting ready to go on another outing downtown to see if I can't try and snag a Growlithe that I've been told habits a certain area... Wish me luck!"

July 10, 2016:

"Just got back from my "grinding" session downtown - I had the MOST fun I've had in ages.

There are SO many people playing GO in my city! Everyone was running around from Pokéstop to Pokéstop catching everything in site. A couple of friends of mine and I attempted to take down a powerful gym, but it was just too much... haha. We slaughtered some weaker ones though, don't you worry.

The highlights included evolving my Goldeen into Seaking, Staryu into Starmie, and catching both the Clefairy that keeps alluding me, as well as a surprise Koffing! I'm only one Psyduck away from getting a Golduck and one Bellsprout away from a Weepinbell. Good night!

"I had another pretty amazing adventure downtown as well today!

To start off, I was actually pretty pissed that I missed my opportunity to catch a Squirtle at a nearby Starbucks. It caught me by surprise... I was actually in the middle of ordering a drink when it appeared, I threw a Great Ball at it - but it broke free and then it ran. ]: I was so bummed man, and I'm sure that barista was none too happy I stopped talking in the middle of my order...

BUT

My fiancee encouraged me to chin up, we went downtown and I found an area just FULL of fire and rock-types! I hatched a Magmar, caught multiple Vulpix, and a Growlithe, a Geodude, and a Rhyhorn. I was so excited to finally find some fire-types after getting, well, drowned in water-types since I've been playing.

Such a great day! I can't wait until Tuesday when I can really play more. :>"

"Not a very progressive day at all, actually. It's been storming really bad lately which kinda limits my mobility and what I can do. Didn't do much more than catch a bunch of duplicates (pidgey, venonat, weedle, magikarp, etc). Didn't even level up, and my one egg that hatched was only a 2km, resulting in a Rattatta. ]: But candies, I guess?

Oh well, tomorrow maybe? They can't all be gold.

EDIT: Found a Snorlax outside just now. So. There's that!"

July 16, 2016:

Ugh, I need to start using the journal to actually look back at what I did on certain days. But hey, today I made one of these travel journey threads, so there's that?

More importantly, I finally got to level 20! Ultra Balls don't fail me now, because I was getting really angry with everything busting out. Highlights of the day included catching a Primape, evolving an Eevee into a Jolteon using the nickname method, and evolving my Poliwhirl into a Poliwrath.

July 17, 2016:

Today was probably one of the slowest days of GO I've had, if not the most uneventful. Most of the day the app wasn't working for me, and I've honestly been too tired to walk around and do the game any justice. I'm still working on hatching three 5km eggs, and nothing caught but a few dozen Pidgey and Weedle to help me level up later.

I did happen to see both a Scyther and an Abra on my radar, but with tracking not working I never quite found them after searching for around 10 minutes. They disappeared, my app crashed, part of me died inside. ]:

Here's hoping tomorrow is better?​

July 18, 2016:

Mostly just walked around today and hatched a few eggs, nearly all were repeats: Mankey, Machop, Pidgy, and Spearow. One of the 5km eggs I hatched while scurrying about work today happened to be a Lickitung though, so I was pretty happy about that. Still trying to hatch one more 5km egg, and trying to get rid of the 2km eggs i have in my inventory...

Other than that, nabbed a few more Eevees and many more Pidgey/Weedle. Pretty calm evening, until my friend sends me this a few minutes ago:

July 19, 2016:

Just one day I'd like to hatch a 2km egg that actually made any difference whatsoever... instead I just get Weedle, Weedle, and a Zubat. Why no Pikachu?

Anyway, not much progress today in terms of new Pokémon. Hoping to go on a hunting/training spree sometimes soon this week, but today was not that day.

I actually decided to focus on the battling side of GO for the first time in a long time - and it was kinda fun! I happened to take down a few gyms with a friend earlier tonight. Drove around decreasing prestige and taking gyms in the name of Team Valor. I'm finding out my Seaking is my best Pokémon - he just always seems to pull through for me. Combine that with my Jolteon to take down the multitude of water-types guarding gyms around here, and I think I did quite well.​

July 22, 2016:

Not a whole lot happening lately, like most players. Got lots of work and little time to play the past few nights anyway.

However, I did happen to evolve another Eevee and scored a Flareon with a 1473 CP. I've been using him to help take down some gyms lately and get a little more experience.

Oh, and on my way home from work I scored a Seel out of the blue! I was super excited as he hadn't even shown up on my radar yet. He was the definite highlight of my day... that is until I went shopping a few minutes ago and a DEWGONG appeared in the foyer of my grocery store. Pretty exciting. :]

EDIT: Aaaaand I just went out and caught a Ponyta! 8D Weekend already made.​

July 23, 2016:

Felt like I did a lot of GO playing today, the fact that my battery almost died and had to be recharged twice in one evening is probably a good testament to that. Good thing I have a portable charger that lasts for days.

Anywho, there was a GO event downtown today with a huge turnout. Vendors, food, drinks, charity donations... it was all really fun and for a decent cause. The best part was my mobile carrier was down there boasting signal - I didn't lag or get cut from the server once; a mixture of better data connection and luck that the GO server stayed on. It was the most satisfying GO play I've had thus far.

Managed to go from level 20 to juuuuust about level 22 while I was up there. Finally caught the remaining amount of Magikarp I needed to evolve into my CP 1504 Gyarados, which was beyond satisfying! Not only that, but I happened to nab a few new things - like this cutie:

Also caught a few more Vulpix to evolve one into a Ninetails, although the CP return was somewhat disappointing. Still, I was more than happy to add it to my Pokédex. Other honorable mentions included: nabbing the Nidorina that got away from me the other night, another Squirtle, Diglett, and finally an Abra when I got home later.

Just wish I could have hatched a few actually decent eggs while I was there, but it was a pretty fun day overall. Spent a good part of the night taking down gyms and attempting to defend them with other members of Team Valor over and over again. The best part of the evening was definitely the point where I met an on-duty IMPD officer who plays while he patrols the war monument. Sadly he wasn't on Valor, but let's just say he was more than happy to have people helping to take down Mystic... Haha, it was great, and actually a good show of community policing. Not gonna get into any politics here, but it was nice to see. ​

July 30, 2016:

Haven't updated in a while, thought I'd go ahead and check in.

I know I've already kiiiiiinda been bragging, sorry, but the big catch of the week was definitely my Dragonite the other evening. I still haven't got around to looking up its IV's and such, but honestly, it's not like I'm going to be able to evolve a another one any time soon. I'm not that worried about its stats - just super happy to have actually caught it!

Additionally, I evolved a Machoke and caught a Nidoking on my way home the other evening. I've literally been one Bellsprout candy away from evolving my Weepinbell into Victreebel for like a week. Ugh, soon.

Hatching still gives me virtually nothing. I have the worst luck. Finally got something from a 2km egg other than a Weedle though... so that's something?​
