if a fire pokemon used fire blast and a water used hydro pump against each other woudent the water evaporate into steam
    just a thought

probably, if the fire was hot enough. But I feel like the water would pierce right through the fire

if it was charizard, his pokedex entry says it can melt boulders so it should evaporate the water

the pokedex never really tells the truth, unless ur talking about mew or totodile, and pokemon never really follows physics anyways(referring to the show)

I have always wondered the same thing.... Why is water not weak to fire? Fire boils water. as for ice weak to fire I agree with this some of the more powerful Pokemon could be capable of sublimination.

Yeah its not really a likely situation, but physics-wise the fire would not be able to heat the water up fast enough, and would be put out before the water had evapourated.

yeah, it takes 4180 joules of energy to raise one kilogram of water one degree celsius, and hydro pump has to use loads of kilograms of water, so yeah, i agree with you. sry, im a science geek, and i had to throw that little factoid in there.

Flame types and power depends on the fuel used, the combustion chamber space and the oxygen burned. I would say that if the flame is blue or "unoxygenated", the flame would have been much hotter.
