Today marked the end of the Hoenn Champioships and with that the Hoenn Saga. So what I want to know is what you think of the Championship all together. Did you like it ? Hate it? What would you change or wish that could have been different? Did Ash get what he deserve? Rate the Championships!!

The championships were abominable in my oppinion. There were clearly not enough battles shown (or enough within the battle), and it was certainly slapdashed. I didn't find it to be axciting at all, as a matter of fact, I am utterly disappointed. Ash's Pokemon worked extremely hard to reach this point, and they weren't given enough face time to exhibit their unique skills and battling techniques; I just felt as if there wasn't enough pay off for the amount of work they put into earning those badges. It was almost as if the creator's didn't want to fabricate another league, thus not enough effort was put into Hoenn. Take the Johto and Kanto Championships, for example, and compare them to Hoenn: A gap of effervescence that separates them.

Each battle didn't appear as unique as it should have, and I found them boring and chimerical - even for Pokemon. With the matchups and Pokemon chosen, there should have been a plethora more diversity used within the attacks designated and executed. Fervently, the battle between Metang and Glalie was just plain bromodic, and the battle that took place between Sceptile and Swellow was just as uninteresting and erroneous - both incapacitated the other.

However, the only thing I found reedemable was Morrison. His reluctance to battle Ash was interesting, though pathetic and nonsensical at the same time. The meowth owned by Tasuya also appealed to me (as I am quite a fan of Puss in Boots).

Aside from that, I despised it and found it to be a waste of time. Hoenn had the potential to be great and could have been done a plethora better. The battles just killed it for me. >_>

I didn't enjoy it today. Ash should have won, or atleast got to the finals. He only won in the Orange Islands, and we all know what a backwater place that was.....

I was disapointed in it...it was like just another episode... Like it wasn't important or anything... I liked the indigo legue's closing cermonies and such. But nothing,.. just Tyson getting his Cup and that was it....come ON!
And yes it should have shown battles from other trainers battling each other..if just small snippits... just didn't feel like a pokemon league championships to me. But I had already knew Ash was not going to win this, he better win battle frontier lol

    It was okay. I mean, I enjoyed it ...but Ash should've won, or at least got to battle one or two of the Elite Four and THEN lost... ><;;
I agree, there wasn't enough battles... and it also causes the theme song to not make scence... it lies now!

Hahaha XD I was thinkin' the same thing. Oh well, you can't win 'em all. Maybe the "unbeatable" parts refers to Ash's unwavering determination to keep goin' no matter what. ^_~

Don't think they even have it like that in the anime...

Correct, agnentk_b, the Elite Four exist within the anime, they just aren't league participants as seen in the games. They are more along the lines of Pokemon proficients that transverse the world, exploiting different vocations (for example Lance, who is a Pokemon G-man) and analyzing various other apsects within the world of Pokemon - battling techniques and strategies. I'm ascertain that they do find themselves in battles and exhibitions from time to time, but antipodean to the game's league mien.

I can understand if they had a hard time making the Honne championship's intreasting if they were just trying to balance it out May's grand cup final's.

Thow they should have maid both of them more intreasting. and even maid them both last longer than the 3 and 7 episode's the were shown in.

I didn't like this Championships that much. I mean it flet rushed like everybody else metion. I mean it the matches didn't really last that long. Most of the pokemon just took one hit then they were out. There wasn't much in the battles. Then they were much shorter. I mean the ended one battle and started another battle in the same episode.

If you compare this Championship to the Jhoto one then I say I like the Jhoto better. I mean this one had no big battles except for Morrison and Tyson but those battles were short too and fell victum to the speedly battles. I didn't mind the match up but the battles what got me with them being short and everything. Remember that the battles in Jhoto took up one whole episode?

I think that the Championships should have lasted longer. Give it a few more episodes and make the battles last longer. Then this would have been a better Championships. I mean a little more work and then this would have been better.

The previous Championships were better, the dubs were that good to me. I liked them all overall but in comparsion. Jhoto > Kanto > Honen

Ash & company spent WAY too much time between badges & ribbons doing a lot of nothing, as well as getting lost. Perhaps Max needs to take his Pokenav back to the Devon Corperation for an upgrade, replacement or refund. If they spent less pointless time on mesningless side trips and more time qualifying, the Championships might have lasted longer.

    right on

    EXACTLY!
The Kanto era only lasted for not much more than a season and a half, but Johto ran for 3+, then Hoenn for another 3+! Why can't they stop inflating league tours like they've been doing with Johto and Hoenn?

    My turn.

I agree with all of you except I have other concerns. I don't think the pace was that bad, nothing at all like the Johto one. We saw Morrison and Tyson strut themselves early on. I think the main time issue would be the Ash battles. The one with Katie, dear God it went on and on and on. The Morrison one was terribly long too but that was expected. It's funny, the Tyson/Ash was the only one that was better paced.

I think the writers did better here because of the characterization: Morrison and Tyson were decent characters (Vast improvement over Harrison) and for once it's nice to see someone we know (Tyson) win one of these things as compared to the usual non descriptive trainers.

Of the lot, Tyson except early on seemed to be the most rushed, wasn't he? Yeah, just being their glory boy.

I wish they'd do like they did with Indigo -- 8 episodes as opposed to the 6-7 episodes the past two were. Plenty of time for pacing then.

I also wish just once they'd have Ash win one of these things so we can see the Elite Four. Of course, the question is, are they going out of their way to make him a loser? My theory is more being they hate the Elite Four. Considering how many episodes we see before being treated by one of them, this is pathetic.

So overall, good enough arc. It's not as bad, not as good. Better luck next time.
