Hosting a party

I have people coming over to my place later. I'm making a meal (curry) and have snacks (chips) and desert (cookies). I spent a while today cleaning up, making sure there were enough clean plates and cups and things for people. But I haven't bothered to dress up or provide any particular entertainment other than the music I normally have around.

How 'bout you? When you put on a party what do you do to prepare and/or make people feel welcome?

Pizza and sweets of all different kinds. I haven't hosted a party in a couple of years though but it's my 18th next year so I might have to :3
