Hello everyone! I'm a bit new here. Well, technically I'm coming back to the Pokecommunity after like five years and I'm ready to re-educate myself in the ways of Rom Modification.

To get to the point, I've been using the Overworld Sprite Editor: Rebirth Edition for a couple days now but to no avail. Basically I'd like to execute 2 things! (I'm using the US version of Pokemon Emerald btw.)

    1. How can I replace my characters bike with something else? Perhaps a Pokemon or maybe an old lady. (For the fun of it.) I tried exporting all layers of my players bicycle sprite and all layers of a fat guy, then pasting the fat guy to my characters bicycle sprite via Microsoft Paint but the fat guys sprite turns completely grey and discolored. I have no clue how to fix it. Perhaps, there's a better way to get this process done?

And 2. I'd like to replace the sprite that my characters sprite sits on when he/she surfs on the water. (You know, that whale looking thing.) I looked everywhere for that specific sprite that my character surfs on but could not find it even after triple checking. For some reason, it doesn't show the sprite on my characters surf layers. Just my character sitting.

As I said, I lack a lot of the basic knowledge on Rom Hacking. I tried looking this topic up for hours but found nothing and I don't feel like wasting even more time rather than doing something that won't frustrate me. Thanks guys.

You should update to use NSE, OWRE is so old and outdated these days. You should be able to find all the sprites you want to change in NSE's bookmarked offsets. The fat guy changing colours is because the palettes are different so you will need to change them, you can also do this in NSE's built-in palette editor.
