How easy is it to copy and paste maps?

    Hello, so I am completely new to rom hacking and I am looking for some tips. Apologies if this is an extremely obvious question.

    I want to make a Platinum/HGSS hack using the HGSS engine purely for following Pokemon.
    Basically I want the game to be set in Platinum using the same map etc.
    Is there a way I can copy and paste the Platinum Map into HGSS?
    I know it's possible with GBA hacks but I can't seem to find any videos/threads on how to do this for NDS hacks.

    The only other changes I'll be making are difficulty based and scripting. The starting point in the game will be different than the original platinum and so gym order will be changed.

    Any and all tips/advice would be hugely appreciated:)
