How much space am I working with?

I recently started a new hack (no need to self-promote yet) and I was wondering if I should create new maps for my whole region or if I should try to reuse most of them.
My hack isn't going to be quite as long as the original game, but it is still a lot of maps (I plan to create 30 areas, so I am anticipating around 50 maps to be created).
So yeah, any other explanation regarding rom memory is very appreciated (except for flag and var usage).

It's the first time that I work on a hack this long and I am a little bit worried, thank you ~

Others would probably know better, but I believe you have 16MB to work with in a base rom, with the possibility to expand up to 32MB. If you're replacing the existing game, you should be able to easily fit a medium-sized region or two. There's no reason not to replace existing maps if you don't need them, but I wouldn't worry about it too much as you're just beginning.
