[Other] How to update personal projects from an online source?

Hello, Cataclyptic here, creator of Pokemon TCG Neo. When I went in to update my game after upgrading the RGBDS version to the latest (v6.1 or something) , it gave me a couple of errors. I can no longer "make" the file using this newer version of RGBDS. Don't have access to my computer right now but I'll add a screenshot of the error when I have the time.

After digging around, it seems as though the reason for this is because the guys over at pret poketcg updated the ASM files again, these files DO work with the new version of RGBDS. Now, I am capable of (eventually) transporting all my edits into this new version, but I want to know if there is an easier way to do this via a version upgrade or something.

I tried looking up several tutorials and don't understand them, especially because they don't appear to use an online source as a pull request / version updater.

If anyone can help me, please do so. I'm dumb so please explain it as clearly as possible.
