How will Banettite and Cameruptite affect the meta?

With the release of these two stones along with the Hoenn starters if you didn't partake in the online competition, how do you think Mega Camerupt and Mega Banette will fare in competitive come this generation? While I can imagine Mega Camerupt earning its place on sun teams and TR teams, I have a feeling Mega Banette is going to be even more fearsome this time around thanks to Prankster activating straight off, thus allowing for a quick WoW or Destiny Bond to remove a check.

How do you think the two new megas will fare this time?

Mega Banette will be even worse this generation due to Prankster no longer affecting Dark-types. Bisharp, Tyranitar, etc. have been rising in usage, which isn't helping. Trick Room could be decent, but it gives up a Mega slot that could've been used for Mega Mawile or Heracross.

Mega Camerupt has a useful niche in being able to counter Tapu Koko, Mega Manectric, and other Electric-types. It also checks Magearna, Celesteela, Ferrothorn, etc. While Mega Camerupt wasn't amazing, it was still fun to use in ORAS OU, and I think that will continue to be true in SM OU.

The latis being nonexistent certainly help camerupt but yeah I agree with wolf s thoughts

I don't think either of them will have an impact until they drop to RU, possibly lower. They are easily among the worst Megas, and to me there is not much of a reason to justify using either on any serious OU team (and I think they'll struggle in UU too). Bannette was fun to play with last gen, but the Prankster and Destiny Bond nerfs don't make up for the new Mega Evolution mechanics. While I wouldn't venture to say it's useless, its Prankster Destiny Bond niche will be much more prediction-reliant this time around. As for Camerupt, it's simply too slow, and the weakness to Water wrecks it. It is helpful against the aforementioned threats, but I don't think it has enough going for it. Perhaps it could be marginally viable if you absolutely need a good check to Celesteela/Skarmory/Magnezone/Ferrothorn/Tapu Koko/etc.
