No, I've been rping for five years. I know what rps are and I know how to do them. And I've already read that thread through and through. But I've never done a pokemon rp before so I don't know where to start. My character is pretty basic and I'd just like to do a one-on-one rp with someone. Maybe Sakura getting her first pokemon or something.

Yep, no one can really teach you how to role play-each person has their own style... Varying from first person to third person, romantic to action oriented, and anything else you can really think of! For the things that one can teach, that link should say it all.
EDIT: You posted before me, hehe. If you're looking for a source of character development, the easiest way to do it is to take part in a role play that's already been made ^.^, not much need for a one-on-one rp, if someone in the rp you take part in has a problemn, they'll tell you. That shouldn't be a problem though, it sounds like you've done a good amount of research ^.^

anyways here are the main parts: No Powerplaying. (also knowing as God-Moding/PPing) when you take control of another members characters, whether they are their pokemon in the rp(role player) or their character themself... also dont control any NPC's (non-playable chars) without ppl letting you unless it is yours... now some people dont mind, and even say "ill be gone for a while, you guys can control my char until im back if you want"... so you are allowed to but dont do so otherwise...
Also dont be unfair, when members are battling... ie: a member uses a move and you always manage to miss it/aviod it from knocking your poke out... it is basically be fair and have fun, w/o hurting or controling another player's char or winning at everything, even if its not against a real char...
You can control the environment and most NPC's, just the 1s that are essential to be controlled by others for the rp, or other ppl's NPC's shouldnt be controlled is what i mean before.
You can create your own NPC's pretty much whenever you want (ie: a wild poke appeared and you decide to catch it) or: i ran into this trainer so i decided to battle him or jsut for the plot that your in : as we all made it out alive i saw a huge group of people, i knew they looked strong but i knew working together we could all take them... (you can create NPC's that would afect toher ppl too, but jsut read their posts after the 1 you made so you know they agree w/ you making it...)
Certain Rp (roleplays) have certain rules... ie: mine lets you steal other ppl's pokes and its not considered pping... (*stealing, control, or making another char that doesnt belong to you/isnt an NPC or char you are allowed to use* lose or do things w/o permission) so even tho its technically against the rules, it can be allowed if the rp permitts it... also some ppl may not post that your pping or that they mind, but they may really be bothered by it and report you, so jsut dont do it anyways... since your new here you'll get the hang-of it fast and ppl wont be too hard on you. =) join an rp im in if u need help getting used to it, pm if you need anything else/wanna know any rps im in

I know what all of that stuff is already. Here's my problem: I can't seem to throw myself into a pokemon rp the way I can with any other kind of rp. :/ Because I want to start here: Sakura gets her first pokemon and starts her journey. I don't want to start with her already having part of her journey under her belt. But I would have to do that if I joined any of the rps I've seen here, or anywhere else for that matter. Does every one understand now? *hopeful look*
If no one wants to do that with me I guess I'll have to make it like a short story and write everything myself... That wouldn't be such a bad idea actually... Hm... *whips out a notebook and goes to her thinking corner*

i could help you we can make a rp about 2-3 three friends you are barely heading out of town to start there journy or not if you dont want to then ill gust take the idea myself and start a new rp but if you do make it then pm me so i can join in the fun.
