3rd Gen I need help w/ the legendary birds

How many Ultra Balls did it take for you guys to sucessfully bag Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres? I tried 10, then 18, and it still didn't work. (after I got it into the red while asleep.)

I suggest having a poke'mon who has a high level and knows False Swipe, like a level 55 Marowak, first, lower the Ledgendary bird's HP with a high level poke'mon, use false swipe, and paralyze it or freeze it, those are the best things that change it's status for catching it, false swipe will hit it, doing normal damage, but if the poke'mon has red level health or something, or it is a critical hit, it will never knock it out, just make it go down to one HP, no matter what.

Sometimes you have to use tons of Ultra Balls, then if you use a PokeBall it works (sometimes).
