Well so far I'm in Ecuretak, and I just beat Morty. I have a Lapras, Gengar, and Quilava at the moment. What other types should I add to my team, and what are some suggestions of pokemon that I should add? Thanks :)

Well, you've got lots of Special Attackers. I suggest getting some Pokemon geared more towards Physical Attacks. Maybe get a Scyther, or a Totodile.

I would say to work on your quilava, if it gets strong enough, just the raw power from its fire attacks will take morty down

I second this, try catching some pokemon that focus more on Physical attacks, also maybe - it's up to you- I suggest, catching a strong tanker (defensive pokemon) Snorax is a great example of this. Although I'm unsure if you can obtain one HG/SS. Blissey is another good defensive pokemon. But, I am not an expert on these things.

This is true, but you can't just rely on it by itself. If you evolve it into a Typhlosion and have no back up for it then you can be in trouble later in the game.

I will add more soon, but I have to study. :3 Good lucky and have fun playing.

You definetly need a physical attacker.

I'd pick Dragonite. Once you evolve it to LV55, use the following moveset:

    Dragon Dance
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake
    Roost

Just set up with Dragon Dance a few times, heal any damage taken while setting up with Roost, then proceed to sweep with DClaw or EQ. I've swept the entire E4 save Lance with this one pokemon alone. It's awesome.

And get an electric type. Either go with Ampharos or Raikou. Raikou may be a pain to catch, but it's well worth it.

I'd love to have a dragonite, but getting 2100 coins by doing voltorb flip does not sound fun whatsoever... If it was easier I would, maybe I'll try and get it some other time. Oh, and I decided on an Electabuzz for an electric type, and I have an Electrizer to evolve it into an Electrivire.

If you don't want to buy a dratini from the game coner, you can get one with ExtremeSpeed from the Dragon's Den after the 8th gym and raise that.

Its just a real pain having to raise a Dratini/Dragonair to get the Dragonite thats all.
Gains exp really slowly, and if you've beaten all the trainers right up to Indigo Plateau then you're going to have a really long process of level grinding to get it.
Maybe get someone to trade a Dratini to you instead of trying to buy one or anything, it'll gain exp quicker that way.

Machamp can be a really strong physical attacker too given the right moveset. I'll have a think about it.

You might as well just sacrafice Dragon Claw with Thunderpunch.

Dragonite is really annoying to get + raise, so just go with a Gyarados. Catch a decently strong Magikarp somewhere and level it up a bit.

Dragon Dance + Waterfall + Ice Fang + anything rips teams. At level 44, it beat the entire Elite Four, including Lance, for me. No joke. Just give it that berry that weakens super-effective Rock type moves for Lance's Aerodactyl, which would otherwise be able to hit you for like 40-50% damage.

    That's what I'd use.
Plus isn't there a rumor that you have a high chance rate of finding a golden magikarp around the water of Blackthron city gym. Yet again, you could just level up the Shitn Gyarados if you caught it.

wtf how does Gyarados use Stealth Rock don't you mean Stone Edge? also waste of a TM, no need for pointless coverage. Bite works fine.

Im really disappointed with the typing they gave Gyarados, it's half Flying and thus has the 4x weakness to Electric attacks.
It can't even learn any Flying attacks except for Bounce, which really, is fairly pointless.
If anything, it should be Water/Dragon.
That would be a better typing for it.
Then it would really be a powerhouse.

Lance has a Dragonite that knows Thunder too, if you're not quick enough and it hits, Gyarados will get owned.
