They were fixed in crystal. But in gold and silver the colors were all wrong. Like Houndoom is all red when its black and has a white belly and the skull on its neck is white.

Sneasel is black and red. But brown and blue in Gold and Silver

I guess just color loss information,or something like that,.....or just one of the other things that makes crystal diffrent......or not enough colors at the time.....so....^_^

that's because crystal was made exclusively for GBC, while the G/S games had support for the old GB, so their graphics and coloring were dummed down a bit.

.............well,.......his explenation is better........-_-;;;......so bite me....

Actually most of the wrong Colors are GB graphics. In crystal the graphics were more improved.

But the only wrong colored pokemon left in Crystal were Cyndaquil-Quilava-Typhlosion. The skin where the flames come from are supposed to be blue. But its black, but not complaining they still look cool.

Yeah. I'm going with calminds Idea... It makes sense because GameBoy graphics were really bad colors... or they had none at all. Whats random is that if oyu play blue on game boy color everything is a shade of blue. and on red its red. ^_^
