I would love to have a chance to work with a game developer here and write some lore for them.

I highly doubt anybody's willingness to let someone else do that. Using myself as an example: I like to create the things that will be in my game because, you see, it's my game. It's not anybody else's.
If I were to let you take on the responsibility of lore/mythos/whatever, then it would stop being my game. It would start being as much, or even more yours, than mine.

I suggest you write your own lore and make your own game. It's not like you have to create several hundred new pokémon. Use existing ones if you must.

I think I see where Coolman is coming from though. Some people aren't great at making games (or lack patience), while others are great at coding and developing, but shouldn't be writing the back of a cereal box, let alone a game. I think what he's referring too is like, a large made fan game. Where some people would do purely graphics, others would code, and some would write. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I remember a few sites doing mods for GTA like this and stuff. Not just him writing and you making. I could be wrong though (I do that a lot) :p

Maybe you should "start" your own game as a writer, and try to recruit people to do the scripting/spriting?
