Idea for the end-all to Pokemon gaming?

Im sure most of the oldschool Pokemon fans will agree with me that there is such a dire need to create a Pokemon game that incorporates ALL regions of Pokemon into one game...you could start out at Pallet town or any of the hometowns, and once you finish with a region you could go to the next one which would be in a set path (kanto-johto-hoenn-sinnoh...)

And nowadays with the innovations of the DS and their dual slot functionality, they could make option packs to go into the DS GBA slot and in those packs there would be a region or two on each. The main DS game would be where the overall data for the Pokemon collected would be stored, and the DS game would contain a sort of menu where you can be in a sort of "purgatory" area until an option pack is inserted, in which case you may leave the area and enter whichever region is in the slot and be at where you saved in that region.

As for the issue of going back and forth between games to have excessively strong Pokemon, there would be imposed a limit to where the player could go. so if a player blows through all 16 gyms between kanto and johto, the game would adapt to level the field.

I know Pokemon wont make a game like this anytime soon, seeing as GEn V is right around the corner, but its an idea to think upon for now...

The dual slot idea is cool but sounds all too tedious. And what about those with DSi's?

Im pretty sure that it has been considered, but they may have figured that it would be very overwhelming for new players. Every time a new version or even a revamped version comes out, a new generation of players are introduced into the Pokemon community.

Ultimately, I do agree with your idea though. It would be fair for long-time pokemon players.

This is an old, old idea, and to be honest I have no idea why it appeals to so many people.

In my opinion, a game featuring all the regions would be tedious and boring. Every Pokemon region is near enough the same: there are grass routes, a few caves, some sea routes, maybe a forest or two. They have different layouts, yes, but the experiences they offer are the same. I could understand why people would want a game with all the regions if each region was vastly different and offered unique experiences, but that's not how it is - the regions practically clones of one another. Playing through a Pokemon game with all four regions would be like playing through the same game four times in a row, experiencing the exact same things four times over.

How would that make for a fun game, by any stretch of the imagination?

It's very easy to see the appeal; increased length of game/storyline.

However, I do agree with this part of your statement Jolene. :)

If this were achieved, I think that the developers would feel more confident about putting it out; seeing as it would present something new to old and new players alike. Everyone would be on the same page.

Alright , if it was the Anime , I'd say Pikachu dying and Ash exilating and dying in a cave ...

    Whoops !

Well , here it is a lot harder , I WON'T say the classic "All regions , And switch Pokemon blah , blah ..." but probably some sort of a multi-game on a single cartridge where it gets as a sequel to each Gen. . I mean , you're Red's / Gold's / May's Lucas's son/daughter and go on an adventure ...

Then , make an all regions game (yes couldn't stop !!) to end the series with these two megalopoplis titles ...

But what exactly would make it worth playing? The "thrill" of finding yourself lost in yet another Zubat infested cave, or of battling your way through yet another rock gym?

Agreed. Not only that but by the time your reach the 3rd region you'll already have a team of Lv.100's which would make the game boring.

Even If someone said "Aw well you could start over when you come to a new region" ... What so after you've went through a whole region with your Pokemon taking the time out to train them all perfectly and then you have to start over an do it all again?? You may as well just play the separate games lmao.

Or there's that other argument of "Aw well the Gym leaders could get stronger as the regions go on" ... Where's the fun in that? Half the fun of a new Pokemon game is leveling up your Pokemon and finding out what it evolves into, what new moves it learns, knowing that after a certain amount of battles its great to be rewarded by hearing the "Ping" of leveling up.

Just my opinion of course lads and ladies :D

Silly billy, think about the game mechanics!

Even if you have the Elite Four of the final region at level 100, what level's the first one going to be?

    20? 30? 40?

I honestly don't know. That's just my general analysis of why people would want it that way.

I like the way it's delivered to us now.

The only thing I have left to say on the topic is that I hope that they have considered some drastic changes for the 5th gen. Roger out...

I'm holding out for when they make a game that can beam you into a virtual pokemon world /:

I don't see that happening in our life time, the closest thing that could possibly to us is that they have some sort of device where we become unconscious and it manipulates our minds into thinking we're in the Pokemon world. Of course that wouldn't be ideal for many people as it would have much less limitations and being killed by Team Rocket in such a game could cause mental damage to children.

^^^^ That sums up my opinion.

...that's pretty much the same thing.

As for the Team Rocket part - since when does any character in any Pokemon game get killed by Team Rocket anyway? o_o

Well, all the older versions get updated to the newer systems, separatly one by one. And then they release one last gen, with things they've never had in any other games and make it really good. But having 5 or gens in one game would be annoying and just... stupid. All our pokemon would get to level 100 in the first few regions, making the rest of the regions boring and pretty much pointless. One of the main challenges in all pokemon games is having strong pokemon....

I'd like a console game with all regions including the new 5th gen region and you can pick your starter town, and what region you visit in any order. That way theres many reasons to replay, maybe an online part of this where you can become gym leaders of a server or whatever and change combat from Turn Based or Action Game if you want...Thats all I can think of atm that would make me never leave home again.

I think the best thing they can do is two regions in the same game like in GSC / HGSS

but they could add new areas, change pokemon locations and do a complete storyline for the 2nd region, not just adding subquests and battling GYM leaders in almost any order you want like they did on GSC.

Also the pokemons and trainers on the 2nd region should be stronger and with high level so it will not be boring

Yes they will probably never do this, but we can dream.

this is a bit generic but a WOW kind of experience make it a real pokemon world

That wouldn't appeal to me for some reason. Like the others already said it would get boring after awhile and the newer generation of pokemon lovers would be overwhelmed (and could possibly get bored of pokemon entirely).

The most regions I can see them using is 2, and if it ever happens 3. But other than that it really wouldn't work. I can see them releasing a remake of D/P/Plt that includes Hoenn in it (like how HG/SS have johto and kanto) but I'm sure that won't be for a long time as well. The best thing they could do is make Gen V a really big region that is totally different from the pokemon games we have today. Instead of walking on foot why not take trains, cross large bridges, scale up mountains w/ other trainers, etc.

To conclude it all...Nintendo would never be for it. If they couldn't think of any new pokemon (and mind you there are over 1,589,361 species on this Earth and we have have like 493 pokemon) they'd just remake old games over again or overproduce the spin-offs (3 pokemon rangers and 3 installments in mystery dungeon is enough isn't it?).

Yeah great Idea (not really) Id love to see the elite four being like level 25 because of the level limit (like what the did to G/S/C)

i think they need to start over with pokemon. instead of adding to this pokedex why not create a new world where its whole new pokemon or just new regions with the same pokemon. im sick of them just adding stupid pokemon just to fill up a pokedex.
