Idea: Hybrid Gen III remakes

    I came up with interesting ideas for Gen III remakes: FireRedRuby and WaterBlueSapphire. These games would be hybrids of Ruby and Sapphire with FireRed and LeafGreen, respectively.

    In these games, you would start out in Hoenn as you do in Ruby and Sapphire, but would include a Kanto and Sevii Islands aftergame.

    FireRedRuby would feature both Groudon and Charizard as its mascot, while WaterBlueSapphire would include both Kyogre and Blastoise as its mascot.

    Also, as a little twist, Charmander would be exclusive to FireRedRuby while Squirtle would be exclusive to WaterBlueSapphire. Bulbasaur would be available in both versions.

    How does anyone like this idea?
     
    I do like the idea and I would love to be able to work with you on this because I have a few ideas myself. Like if someone could get ahold of and permission for using Shiny Gold to add Johto to the mix. I like the ideas except maybe the names and not using an individual mascot.

    I prefer Liquid Crystal since it has a Johto map instead of ShinyGold's Sevii Islands map with Johto names. Liquid Crystal also has an active development, while ShinyGold's development has been inactive since 2008.

    And I will destroy this bubble before it gets too big.
    There's simply NOT enough space in ROM for 3 full regions.
    Maybe you can "join" Kanto and Hoenn but there's no way to have all 3.
     
    Well what about ROM space for a DS game?

    And an off topic thing I've noticed was that a lot of the time the Pokemon are inappropriately leveled for later in the game. Even in HG/SS there's just an issue where the wild Pokemon are still little but it also means after beating the Elite Four and all 16 gyms there's hours and hours of more Elite Four battling to level up your team to 100 or just trying to get Pokedex data for something like Flygon that evolves in it's 50's.
     
    I will go jump off a bridge if my favorite game is morphed in with my least favorite game.

    Also guys, please stop going off topic about ROM hacks. I don't need this turning into a hack discussion. Y'all know I hate ROM nubs. >:o
     
    I am oh so sorry that I am new here, but since when was this NOT a hack discussion? And since when were you supposed to just butt in to something with a completely off topic remark? Also, if you hate ROMS then you obviously have nothing to do with them, obviously not having a clue what we're talking about. Watch who you're calling a noob.

    If this is a discusion about ROM's then it's in the wrong section. From the way I read it, the OP was not talking about hacking, merely suggesting this was something Gamefreak could do. Maybe I missed something, however

    Anyway, I like the idea. More Pokemon is always good :) I've really had a hankering to play the Gen3 games lately, but I can't find my Emerald

    New, eh? Then you should go look at the forum leader's page. I moderate this forum, and I'll butt into a thread if I need or want to. It's my job. This isn't the ROM Hacking forums. Had this been in the wrong forum, I would have locked it. The part of my post with a strike through it is a joke. Any regular in this section knows I get a lot of ROM Hacking threads here and they annoy me. I wasn't calling you in particular a noob, I was referring to the people that blatantly don't read the name of the forums. Since you're new, I won't infract your for disrespect, but I highly recommend you watch your tongue, whether you speak to another moderator or another member like that. I won't take it lightly next time. If you wanna go make a hack or discuss them, there is a separate forum for it and you can run on over there.

    Well Sydian is a moderator and this is in the general section not ROM hacking section so it's pretty safe to assume you're new-ish to the PC. Just a bit of advice to you mate, be nice and respect other's opinions before posting flame remarks.

    Back to OP that would be a great idea if it was around the same time as Johto where there would be a mission that impedes a team rocket group heading to Hoenn and with the disruption that you cause it gives enough time for silver/gold to stop Team Rocket and the group you stopped hears about their defeat and give up as well....hmm it souunds great in theory but now I see too many holes in that scenario, the major one being the timeline (unsure of the official timeline besides Gen II being a couple years after Gen I)
     
    Well now I'm just ashamed of myself. I'm sorry, I don't see why I completely ignored looking over everything, I think just being away from forums for a few years didn't help. But anyways, I am done here (not the forum, I enjoy rom hacking too much) I'm just going to make sure I have everything settled before I take offense myself :P
     
    I think it'd be a bit of a stretch to have a game with both Kanto and Hoenn in it. I know, I know "but that's what Gen II did with Johto!" but the Kanto of Gen II was a fair bit reduced from its RBY/FRLG variety. Indeed, if and when there are Gen III remakes, it'd be nice if there were nary a mention of FRLG in them - remakes mentioning remakes is a very meta concept! :P

    But I do like the names mentioned by the OP: FireRuby and WaterSapphire. They could work!
     
    I do believe this idea could become a pretty much awesome idea if it became real, and could also have a supreme storyline. Sadly, we also have to agree that this is idea is pretty much impossible, or unbelivable. Its not something that we can assossiate to Game Freak Actually Doing, sorry. D:
