I'm going to buy 2 boxes, need help!

Hi!

Well, this is my first time writting here. I haven't played in a long time (since Nationals last year) and I want to start playing again. I'm interested in going to a Gym Challenge tournament here in Mexico, and I want to buy 2 Boxes, but I don't know wich expansions get, any suggestions?

The last expansion I bought was Emerald, I went to a pre-release of Holon Phantoms (didn't get so much), so... what do you recommend?. I was thinking in the Delta Species expansion, but I don't know if it's too old, or if there are new cards that would counter my cards. Any help would be great, and maybe some suggestions about a deck with this boxes?

Whatever you do don't get Sandstorm and I think its either

Fire Red and Leaf green or ruby and saphire that you can't use in tournaments.

But never buy sandstorm anymore, fairly useless since its banning.

Holon Phantoms is a pretty bad set, Deoxys Is Bad, Most before that are bad, Unseen Forces is very risky because they have 28 unknowns in the set that are all holo, although a few of them are very good cards. Most people say Emerald is bad but I like it quite a bit but i'd say you should get Delta Species and whichever other one you'd like. Holon phantombs has some really good cards, and some really horrible cards (2 of 3 of their stars absolutely suck)

I'm buying a box of delta species myself

But yeah, get delta species then look up the sets to see if you like them.

Legend Maker is decent too

You can use certain Trainer cards from Sandstorm, like Rare Candies, Wally's Training, Lanette's Net Search and I think there's more, because they have been reprinted.

The sets you can use atm are Hidden Legends and up.

Also some promos and POP series cards

UF, HP, or DS. IMO, they all have good trainers and a wide veriety of pokes and tactics, UF is a more expensive set, because of Lugia and Steelix EX, but if u pull somthing good "$$"

It really depends on what deck you want to build though.
