My friends and I are playing a game and I'm looking for a good strong Pokemon to use. The rules are it cannot be legendary, starter or evolved (Pikachu, etc are considered to be evolved). So far I have Squirtle (only allowed one starter), Bagon, Beldum and Lapras. Any other suggestions?

I think snorlax would be a good option, but if you don't want to use him then you will have to have somthing like Meditate which can learn all the Ellemtal puches and is of an alright streghth

Beldum??? You do know that it can only learn Take Down, right? Avoid using it at all costs. Since single evos apparently are not a problem, here are some suggestions:

    Snorlax @ Leftovers
    Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
    - Body Slam/Return
    - Earthquake
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk

Snorlax is one of the best Pokes in the game, including Ubers. Not having this guy is like going to a gunfight with a knife. Rest and Sleep Talk allow Snorlax to shrug off damage and status while still causing damage. BS or Return is your choice. The paralysis sometimes helps more than the extra power of Return.

    Lapras @ Leftovers
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Confuse Ray/Rest
    - Ice Beam
    - Sing/Surf
    - Thunderbolt

This moveset depends on what you want Lapras to do. It can status quite well, or it can tank. For status, Sing the first move and CR on the switch. I doesn't give Lapras the staying power that Rest does, but it definitely causes problems, especially since some will switch again when their Poke is confused, allowing you to Sing or CR the next one.

    Jynx @ Leftovers/Lum Berry
    - Calm Mind
    - Ice Beam
    - Lovely Kiss
    - Psychic

Same basic concept, but Jynx cannot tank to save its life with its pathetic DEF. It relies more on its Spd and SAtk. LK the first move and then CM up. It can sweep much better than Lapras.

    Aerodactyl @ Choice Band
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Aerial Ace
    - Double-Edge
    - Earthquake
    - Rock Slide

Another no-brainer. This should probably be your starter, unless you face a lot of bulky waters as leads. This thing causes A LOT of pain on the physical side.

    OR

    Heracross @ Shell Bell
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Megahorn
    - Rest
    - Rock Slide/Brick Break
    - Sleep Talk

This is another beast. If you cannot get 2 Rest and Sleep Talk, you might want to choose between giving them to Snorlax or Heracross. Curselax is always a great (if not played) option, and CBcross can be just as good as Stalkercross.

    Skarmory @ Leftovers
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Rest
    - Spikes
    - Substitute
    - Whirlwind

One helluva physical wall, especially after you get a Sub up. No attacking needed. Just set up Spikes and then abuse WW.

    Chansey @ Leftovers
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Aromatherapy
    - Seismic Toss
    - Softboiled
    - Thunder Wave/Ice Beam

Not quite the special wall that Blissey is, but still VERY effective. Aromatherapy removes all statuses on your team, ST does consistent damage, and TW/IB is your choice. TW again helps status your opponent, but IB allows Chansey to handle Aerodactyl that inevitably shows up.

    Good luck!

This guy knows what he's talkin about. Pretty much, dont use anything first evolution out of three, b/c they pretty much bite the dust. Personally, on the set you were given, i would go with curselax as a sponge / phys sweeper.

Wow, shane, he caught you ^_^ oh well, no biggie
Well, Im trying to think of a few off the top of my head...
Absol, Zangoose, Lunatone/Solrock, Scyther, Gligar? Idk if any of those are good...

#$%@#$^# Smoochum. I even had Electabuzz in my list, but was able to catch myself on that one. Jynx must have used Lovely Kiss on me.

Mawile, Absol, and Wynaut are good choices, Wynaut can be just as good as Woobuffet if you raise him right :D

i say toakjoal it has good attack at hight defence well thats what i say i have one gofor it

try using a modest zangoose (suicide maybe, but it can learn ice beam, flamethrower, thunderbolt which covers most types, but it has a quite a poor sp. atk to start with so im not sure if it'd help having a modest nature)

and it only needs like 800000 to get to level 100 :)

Considering that Zangoose's base SAtk is only 60, a special Zangoose is a HORRIBLE idea. Its base Atk is a strong 110, so you are better off going physical. With its speed, it can outspeed Heracross.

Torkoal would also be a bad idea, unless your opponents are not very good. Fire in one of the worst types in the game, in competition with Poison and Bug. Good teams don't usually have a Fire-type, but rather a good Poke that knows a Fire move.

I'll just pretend you didn't say that last bit.

I hope we dont start a flame war here (pun unintended) but still, there are always more versatile types that can do the same jobs as fire types

Sorry, It just twanged a nerve. But i must admit, for selection of pokemon that don't evolve, Fire is reasonly poor.

Gengar and Swampert have pretty good movesets and to annoy your appoinet shuckles are great

    :t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

That is fine and all, but the rules state the Pokes cannot be starters or evolved forms, so Swampert and Gengar are out.

Just say no to Shuckle. One of the worst Pokes ever.

Depends really. Shuckle isn't the most powerful pokemon around but it can be a real pain if used correctly. Then again, Shuckles extremely poor HP hurts it a LOT :(

I have already written this up somewhere. Even with its "great" base defenses, a Surf from Milotic will still do max damage of 89% to the crappy Shuckle because its HP is so low. Throw in its pathetic base attack stats and you have one laughable Poke. By comparison, that same Milotic does 11% max damage to Blissey.

    Shuckle blows.

Sorry to say this but Snorlax is a evolved pokemon too lets not forget Munchlax now shall we!
