I don't understand the IV bit very well, i used a IV calculator but i don't know if the stats i got were good or not!

    Here's the calc: https://www.serebii.net/games/iv-calcdp.shtml

I have a charmander like this:

    lvl 1

    brave

    hp: 12
    att:6
    def:6
    sp.att:6
    sp.def:6
    speed:5

Look on the calculator, are these stats good?

It wont work lol get your charmander to at least lv 25 while keeping tracks of the EV then use the calculator

Go and battle someone on a lvl 100 battle with that pokemon so it goes up to lvl 100. In the battle look at its stats and use the calculator on it

But if you do the iv battle you still have the pokemon on lvl 1. If you rare candy it it stays on lvl 100 forever

If you raise it up to... level 10 or so, you can check it's IVs then. If it's got good IVs, you can grow those EV reducing berries and reduce the EVs back to default and begin EV training.

I used the rare candy method to lvl 100 and found out the values, It has amazing hp! but tellible atck and sp.atk...back to the breeding board!

BTW: thanks to everyone who helped me!

As for the Rare Candy thing, you can always reset to get the Rare Candies back, and set the Poke's level back to 1. Really, if you have enough Rare Candies, you shouldn't need to do IV battles.

Also, you should use Metalkid's IV Calculator instead of Serebii's. You have to enter more information, true, but you get much more accurate IVs. Also, with Metalkid's, you only need to raise the Pokemon to lv. 25 or so to get a good idea of its IVs, often less than that.

Yes, metalkid's is far superior. I only had to rare candy my eevee to level 11 and got a wonderful idea of IVs...it doesn't take all that long either.

    Linky's for the win! https://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/OnlineProgram/Calculators/IV.aspx

If you want a mixed sweeper, for Charizerd, try this:

    Charizard @: Leftovers
    Trait: Blaze
    Lonely/Rash Nature
    Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Overheat
    Earthquake
    Substitute
Focus Punch. The first slot has Special Attacks, so yeah.

The thing with that set is that dragonite does it much better. 134 base attack>85 base attack. Chari does have more speed, the one advantage it has.

Specszard FTW! If you use a physical Zard, use bellyzard, since DD on Chari is outclassed by Dnite again.

    Charizard @ Choice Specs
    Trait: Blaze
    EV: 252 SpAtt / 252 Speed / 6 Att
    Nature: Timid
    Flamethrower
    Dragon Pulse
    Ancientpower
    Earthquake

Don't go LOL at Earthquake, that's for Heatran, who otherwise walls you completely.
