I really dislike that it is part of HGSS, as a HM and as a major part of the game. This might mean that instead of having the choice to go to Olvine and Mahogany at the same time will be changed. This could be good however because it might mean a level rise later in the game in an around Mahogany and after. It also means I have to teach my Pokemon a move i don't want them to know, or carry a Hm slave and have to switch it in when i want to do something, which is tedious, I'm sure you'll agree.

While I agree with temporarily blocking off Mahogany and a possible level rise, I really hate the chore of HM's... I don't know.

    What do you think?

As far as I remember, HM6, Rock Smash was in G/S/C so they're just making it pretty much the same, are they not?
I don't mind HMs, that's why I always try carry at least on HM Slave.

They're just trying to make it as similar to the original G/S/C as possible.

I hate the fact that Rock Smash is an important part of the game because it's so f-ing weak. :< Seriously, it used to have 20 power, and even though its power was doubled in DPPt, it still wasn't strong enough for me to use it as an effective move. I would just dump it on an HM slave and be done with it.

Now that we have to use it to get to Olivine first, that just makes it even more annoying. If they powered the move up even more, to something like, say, 60 or 80, I wouldn't mind so much.

No. Rock smash was never in gsc, HM 06 was waterfall.

How is putting something that wasn't in the origonals making it similar to them? duhh!

You don't know what you're talking about, so don't give other people that stuck-up attitude. Rock Smash existed in GSC, and had effects outside of battle, despite being a TM move. It shared this trait with Dig and Teleport. You could get the TM for talking to the fat guy near Sudowoodo, or buy it at the Goldenrod mart.

However, Rock Smash was not required for the completion of the game. A player could defeat the Elite Four, the Champion, and RED before even touching Rock Smash.

Oh yeah... I could've sworn it was in there though. Oh well, my bad.
Regardless, it doesn't really make a major difference to gameplay.
I mean, what's the point in moaning about a move that isn't powerful.
It has its advantages and disadvantages, in-battle and on-field.
Obviousely people are either gonna use it or just drop it on a HM Slave. Makes no difference in the game that bad, does it?

I meant as a HM and as a necassery part of the game.

I meant as a HM and as a necessary part of the game.

Oh it was quite necessary to the game, its was very useful in certin parts, If I'm not mistaken there is one point in the game where you MUST have rock smash.

There is nothing wrong with Rock Smash. If anything, they should add dive in the very few water places.

So stop complaining. Add a HM Slave or get it out of the PC Box. Simple. bye

Flash + Whirlpool used to frustrate me.

Flash + Whirlpool used to frustrate me.

3 useless HMs in G/S (if you just want to beat the game, all the Gym leaders E4 and read), Flash, Whirlpool and Waterfall. You only need to use Waterfall once, Whirlpool twice and flash once.

    >.===.> Stop complaining.

the thing I wanna whine aobut is the origonal TMs the leaders give out, they should include them as new TMS to put the number of tms to 100 (since the count is 92 in DPP and include whilpool as an hm). And for your information, rock smash is a pretty good move, it almost always lowers the opponet's defence by one level. shame on you for bashing it.

Rock Smash is a horrid move, so I don't know where you're getting your logic. So then Rock Smash has been confirmed as an HM, or just as existing in the game? If it wasn't confirmed as an HM, maybe they could still be keeping it as a TM. Either way, though, something like Quagsire could easily fill an HM slave slot for things like Rock Smash, Waterfall, Strength, etc. So, really, it's nothing to be that upset about.

We have survived whole pokégame saga with HM's. Why can't we now? Rock Smash is not that big deal and you need it to catch Shuckle if you don't want that man's Shuckle...

I liked Rock Smash, but dislike HMs in general. I liked how Headbutt and Rock Smash were a sort of "HM-like TM". I had it there, but if I didn't want to use it, it was all, w/e. XD

But yeah, I agree. No *mandatory* Rock Smash. I can almost guarantee that Headbutt won't be a freaking TM >.>

This is kind of true. If you ever wanted to catch Entei, Raikou, and Suicune you HAD to use it to get to the right hole that dropped you down to the thing they were sleeping at, only in Gold/Silver though since the burned tower part of the game was changed in Crystal to where you HAD to go down there to continue the story and you could get there without rock smash.

Still, I'd prefer Rock Smash to go back to being a TM, I've hated it ever since it was made an HM in Gen III.

i hate rock-smash, its such a weak move that your pokemon cannot get rid of easily, that space could easily be filled with a decent move.
Why couldnt they just make it a TM that you can get it easily or buy from shops so you only use it when you need it.... i hate rock-smash!!!

vOv Quit Complaining. While Rock Smash isn't a decent move, it's something you can put on a slave, or at least live with it until the Move Deleter is available.
