So over the past few weeks I've been working with Fire Red. The first romhack test I was working on ended up glitching out on me irrepairably, so I started over, this time making a new backup every hour or so just in case something odd borks. It was still good experience too; now I'm more familiar with AdvanceMap, PGE and even scripting to a degree. Anyway, I found I was able to save a map on the old romhack I was working on, open it up on my new one, and then insert it into the new one. After editing some header information and the encounter info it was good to go. Unfortunately, it seems like every map I insert like this is disallowed to use the Bicycle by professor Oak. Uh, what? I've checked all the header information; it's the same. There seems to be no difference in these two maps, and yet I can't use the Bicycle at all on them; anyone know why?

Compare the header to one where the bike works. The room type may be an indoor one.

Just re-checked, both of the headers say Village under Type. I can also fly from all maps but one, of which I forgot to modify the header from the default to be outside, and that one now lets me fly from it - so thanks for suggesting that since I hadn't re-checked all of them.

Anyway, what else would be preventing bicycle use? I could have sworn there were some sort of block properties in AdvanceMap and I don't mean the movement permissions tab. I just checked through the "Block Editor," and it seems to just have to do with palettes. Is there something else that handles Bicycle permissions?

Inserting maps from map files can also mess up a header byte which isn't affected by the map's type. Enter Professional Header view (Ctrl + H) and check out this post.
Well what do you know, this was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much; editing that one byte from 00 to 01 in that spot of the header did the trick, and I can use the Bicycle again! Well, I guess I know what to change now. Thanks!
