[Question] Interacting without events?

So... I want to implement something in my game, that works just fine with events. But it would take away valuable space and it would also be really annoying, because I had to add the event to every single character in the game.

So I was wondering if there was a way to make it possible to interact with adjacent NPCs without using too much events. Something similar to the Pokegear maybe, or like the toggle on and off function of the Pokemon Following Script. You define a function for a specific key in the script that only works, once a specific switch is on and only if you are adjacent to a person.

I hope it is somewhat clear what I mean =/

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the possibilities of scripting, but perhaps someone can enlighten me on that matter...

And I'm sorry if someone already asked this, I'm not sure what I should be looking for...

PS: Perhaps it is possible to tweak the fishing script around to do something like that?
It actually does almost perfectly what I want already (if you'd change the fishing part).

PPS: Perhaps a moderator could be so kind and move this thread to the Pokemon Essentials Forum? I think it rather belongs there than here, but I realized that too late. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and thank you in advance.
