So, this morning, the MMORPG that I usually burn time on was temporarily shut down for updates. Having nothing to do, I went to youtube and started browsing the music. I happened upon a song that I have loved for years, but haven't listened to in forever and a half. The song was Do You Know (Knife in your Back) by Killradio. I'm sure most of you know the song, and if you don't, then I suggest you listen to it. For me, it is a powerful song with much emotion behind it. Gave me sort of a chill after hearing it again after so long.

So, that's why I come to you today. I want to know the songs that you guys think have deep meanings and powerful feelings behind them. I'll give you a few songs off the top of my head, just to get it started.....

    Do You Know--Killradio
    The Highwayman--Loreena McKennitt
    The Outsider--A Perfect Circle
    Rapture--Hurt
    Grind2Halt--Static-X
    10th Man Down--Nightwish
Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of a War Drum--A Perfect Circle
    Tera-Fied--Static-X
    Saving Us--Serj Tankien
    Spiders--System of a Down

One song by Killradio that really sticks with me is Entertained (although I like the old version better than the album version but either way both are good). Just the "they made radio for the music, now people just make music for the radio" and "we don't want to see you happy we just want to see you smile". That song has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard.

But as for songs that get to me emotionally, I can't go past Explosions In The Sky, particularly their album The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place. That just really speaks to me.

Can't remember the exact song but I heard a song from Sting from the Lethal Weapon 4 theme (Mel Gibson, Danny Glover 1998) - and that is really amazing how he uses his voice to invoke emotions in that song.

there are a lot of songs i've heard that have left me feeling some sort of an emotional resonance, but are often foggy and vague and up to personal interpretation. i mentioned the album Hospice by The Antlers in another thread recently, which has drawn more emotion from me than any other album i've ever heard. the vocals are haunting and the music is beautifully gloomy and the lyrics so heartfelt and straightforward you feel the writer's struggle. i cried through the entire album (and i cant stop listening to it so i'm an emotional wreck atm), i defy you to hold back your tears through the final song.
