The 2DS releses this Saturday.....So does Pokémon X&Y So is this thing really a 3DS alternitive or just a way to sell more X&Y?

Not really. It's a cheaper option for people who can't afford or don't want a 3DS console. Obviously the release coincides well for the Pokemon release and I suppose it could be seen as a marketing ploy but die hard Pokemon fans are likely to already have a 3DS and if not, they'd buy one; whichever version, to play the game.

Well technically its a bit of both. They made it obvious that they wanted it for people who cant afford a 3ds but want to get x and y. Also, for kids its a lot healthier with the disabled 3d feature. Another thing I noticed is that the x and y overworld will be without the 3d feature and only battle and cut scenes will be in 3d. So their main target consumers are people who don't want to use the 3d feature, kids who cant use the 3d feature and people who cant afford the 3ds but still want to play x and y.

Could you use "Greety" in a sentence please?

They released it because they know a lot of pokemon fans only play pokemon games and did not buy a 3ds because it didn't have any pokemon games on it yet. now that there will be pokemon on the 3ds they're making a cheaper alternative so that people who want to play pokemon but don't have 3ds's can still play pokemon and not have to spend as much money.

The unit is designed for children. Nintendo has to slap warnings onto all their packaging because the 3D can damage developing eyes. While you can disable the 3D on a 3DS this unit removes it entirely. It's also more bulky and durable than a standard or XL 3DS. It can survive some punishment that a child might put it through. The 2DS is primarily designed to reach a neglected demographic.

I just want to say..the day after Pokemon releases, Skylanders releases and a lot of stores are having larger events for Skylanders than Pokemon. Skylanders is currently one of the highest on the list of this year's "Hot Toy list".

I feel the 2DS' release is to capitalize on that more than Pokemon. Even though its a huge seller for the franchise, Skylanders is a large scale seller for multiple platforms and its a good way to get people to buy the 2DS so the kids can play Skylanders while traveling.
