Hey guys, I was just wondering if the Anime and the movies were actualy related, because in the Anime Ash did not recognize Articuno in the battle frontier when he actually saw him in Pokemon the second movie. He did not recognize Deoxys in the battle frontier although he saw him in Destiny Deoxys. He did not recognize celebi in Hoenn while he actually saw celebi in the fourth movie. " Im Confused"

they are sort-of canon, but you can't really link them together very strongly

i say yes because in johto when they see that lugia they relate it to Pokemon: the power of one and say something about seeing a lugia in the orange islands

    Nah, they don't really combined.

Because the characters don't actually remember what they went through in the movies.
They also never mention past movie events in the series. So they do go together in terms of timelines, and generations, but in other ways they're totally seperate.

There are plenty of continuity flaws, but there were a few references to the movies in the anime. The first was already mentioned, Ash did say he met a Lugia in the Orange Islands, which could only be from the 2nd movie. Also, when they returned to Ecruteak City in Johto, Ash told Eusine he has met Suicune before. That reference could only be from the 4th movie. But yes, there were also times when it seemed like they were meeting a pokemon for the first time, but that has happened WITHIN the anime series itself, as well as between the movies & series.

There are plenty of Articuno, They always say it is "a" Moltres or "a" Articuno.

Yeah they are, Ash is just kinda stupid and has a bad memory *Gets Shot*

I think the Deoxys two-parter started the official allusions, as it referenced LeRousse City, so the ball was rolling. And the current movie follows the events of the previous movie (Darkrai), so we'll wait and see how it will affect the series.

Edit: Actually, Mewtwo did the mind-wipe, there.

My answer to EVERY SINGLE movie's conclusion that happens to explain as to why the Anime isn't related to the movies...

Team Rocket throws rocks at Ash after a flimsy excuse for "a role" in the film.

But the first movie had continuity with the anime (forced continuity?) thanks to the special TV episode.
So I guess continuity is different with each movie.

I mean, this years movie is pretty much impossible to link in with the anime storyline right now :/

Didn't Ash use his Aura powers on a Spiritomb once? And I know the Deoxys movie is canon, Lund's research was used.

Didn't the Lugia arc reference the events of the second movie? I mean, Ash and James mentioned their seeing a Lugia in the Orange Islands when they first saw Silver.

Also, I think I recall someone saying on a debate thread similar to this on Serebiiforums that Ash and Brock recognized Celebi, and May and Max didn't in the Green Guardian, plus they had Ash say that he "Met" suicune (yes he did see it in "Don't Touch that Dile", but he said that he met it, which implied that he got to know it, and the only time they ever got to know each other at that time was "4ever".)

Edit: Oh, and Drew's hometown is the setting of the Deoxys movie.

I'm waiting until Dogasu does the comparison, but the current vibe is "yes, it was a reference to the second movie." So, yeah, go with that, until you hear otherwise.

Suicune is different, yes, as "Don't Touch" had that dramatic irony. However, in Eusine's in-series episode, Ash said he met Suicune. Yet, he and the episode didn't say on either the events of "Don't Touch" or the fourth movie, which aired prior. That always bugged me, in the past. It's bugging me further in recent times, as Mew is now proving how Legendaries aren't always one of a kind (or has that changed when I wasn't looking?).

As for the first movie, I did forget that, as that's the most tight of all the movie allusions (so far). Problem is, it's been so long since it was last mentioned or Mewtwo had an actual appearance (S. Melody doesn't count), so one tends to forget about it.

And, yes, on Drew's hometown, but when was the information of his hometown dropped, anyhow? Which episode was it? I can't seem to recall. Oh, well, that's the way it goes.

They always have their current Teams of Pokemon they have in the Anime at the time the movie comes out though
