Delete/Kill/Move/Whatever if it's in the wrong place or it's been answered.

I'm rather new to EV training (Managed to sort of EV train a Dragonite but whatever) - But I started with my SoulSilver.

I was just thinking, my friend doesn't have HeartGold or SoulSilver yet so he's forced to do it on his Platinum - is that a better game to do it on?

Or is it down to personal preference?

Basically you could use either one. Platinum has the advantage of Battle Finder. You can train for Speed in 30 minutes, if you just rebattle a trainer with six magikarps(and have power item AND Pokerus)

In HG/SS you can do that as well, but only on certain days at certain times. But instead of perfect trainers, HG/SS offers you some great places for Speed(Lake of Rage), SpAtk(Lake between GoldenRod and Park) and Atk(Route 40, Water) and HP(Slowpoke well, water).

So, it´s up to you. Three stats are easiest to train in HGSS, speed being available in both Platinum and HGSS. Def is also easily found on both. Just kill Geodudes. SDef comes with Tentacool/cruel on both.

Rebattling trainers on Platinum or HGSS would be the best way of doing it. Sure, you can only do it at certain times but just wait for those or change your DS' internal clock. :D

I personally like training in Platinum more than HG/SS, but that's probably because I'm more used to it. You don't have to wait until a certain time to rebattle trainers with good Pokémon, there are plenty of decent hotspots, you can chain to make sure you get the same Pokémon over and over, etc.
The only stat I find a little annoying to work with on Platinum is Sp. Atk, especially if you don't have power items/macho brace/pokerus. HG/SS has the one-up with the breeding changes, too.
