I read this in the newspaper yesterday:

Disneyland's most popular ride is It's a Small World, where passengers ride along in little boats. Problem is, it's a large world. The boats keep sinking under the super-fat passengers. It has had to close down.

How do you feel about this? And I'm not talking about the Disney ride, I'm talking about the fat passengers!

    I say ban KFC!!!

Don't they normally put weight restrictions on rides? In fact I think it's the law. IMO Disney make a boo-boo.:\

*laughs* Well this seems disgusting how weight problems is shutting down popular rides lol. Now who the heck gave the idea to let people over 270 go on a smalll boat with little kids??????????

I agree get rid of KFC, and Mcdonalds!!

    I lol'd. :|

When I went to Disney World this year, I was absolutely floored by the amount of overweight people. I'm used to the handicapped parking spaces being reserved for the elderly or people who have genuine physical disorders, but there? Any time I saw someone get in or out of a vehicle in a handicap place, it was someone who was so overweight, they honestly could not park anywhere else. I believe I only saw ONE person in a wheelchair who was in the chair for a reason other than obesity. It was honestly disgusting. I know it's a serious disorder for a lot of people, but that many in one place was... well, I most certainly didn't expect that, I can say that much.

    :| Most theme parks do have a "no passengers over ___ lbs" rule for their rides. I suppose since the boats Disney has been using are probably getting on in years, they could use a re-engineering or something, but still... they sank because of overweight people? That's just a little sad, in my books. <<;

Is this actually real? Could we have a link to the news page?
I think it's horrible people allow themselves to get to that weight in the first place lol. But yeah, poor other passengers.

It was a tiny article in the newspaper. I'll see if I can find the newspaper and I'll scan it.

That's okay, you don't have to go through the trouble, just I couldn't find it on the BBC website lol. Usually I'm quite upto date with rides, being a ThemePark Junkie haha.

Oh lol. It was really tiny, like right in the corner of the page about an inch long. It was headed "Sinking feeling" XD I can't find the newspaper right now. I hope my mum hasn't thrown it out :\ I did ask her not to throw away that paper. I'll ask her when she gets back.

I can pretty much brag that I'm a Disney World know-it-all, and I can tell you that that wasn't the reasonthey closed down the ride :x That's just a horrible excuse they made because they hate the ride for being so old and needing so many repairs all the time. They had thought about closing it down awhile back but because of protests, they kept it open. Meh.

Anywho...fat people should be able to ride rides, but the park shouldn't modify their rides to fit the fat person in them. That's what I think.

totally. They shouldn't let anyone over a certain weight on.

yay! they shut down that idiocerd ride!

I don't think KFC is the problem, you just offended gratoh! the problem is, not all people like it so they go to Chick-Fil-A and eat excessively to drown the boats so

    BLAME CHICK-FIL-A!

    hehehe...

Yeah, like Lightning said, I don't think it needs to be no one under lbs can ride, there instead needs to be a copacity limit.

Doesn't matter fat people are just like a normal person, only larger and everything they do is about 10 times funnier. Alright lets compare a normal kid and a obese kid falling down a fire escape, which one is funnier? you be the judge.

It's A Small World. Name of the ride says it all. Big people do not belong on there. I vote for them to implement some sort of weight limit. And for the larger people who really want to take the ride, it may just inspire them to try and lose some kilos.

If they put a weight limit on rides, you could end up with people ranting on about how it's discriminative towards the overweight and/or obese. Political correctness comes before common sense in this "small world" these days. D:

Now, of the riders: They should exercise more or eat less, either one should work; but I'm not the person to be telling them this, simply because fat people don't bother me at all. If people want to suffer whatever afflictions being overweight brings from excessively eating, I don't care, it's their problem.
