Question: Japplets

Why arn't users allowed to include Japplets into there signatures?

If you're talking about Java Applets, you can't put them in your signatures because it'd be annoying as hell to everyone who has to load them. o.< If you want to show off something like that, create yourself a web page and put a link to it in your signature.

What are you talking about? You need Java for either everything or everything and then more than everything next decade. :\

Though I wouldn't think those applets would be annoying as long as admins put a few restrictions or something.

Well, believe it or not, there are these people who are described as "computer-'tards" and "ignorant" that don't have such software.

Not everyone has a good browser, not everyone has an anti-virus program, not everyone has a non-OS-bundle firewall. And, believe it or not, not everyone has java.

What would be annoying, IMO.. iiis that if so many people started putting Java in their signatures, then everrryyytime you'd load up a new page, you'd get the popup. The one that asks whether or not to want to start up Java/load a certain script/program etc. :/

At least, that's what it does to me.. and having it pop up every 30 seconds, or such.. would be really annoying. xD;

Indeed. Plus we must factor in the fact that Java itself is a slow programming language. So it's not there because it'd increase load times exponentially. And yes, I'm a Java programmer, and I know exactly how malicious a java applet can be. While Java itself usually doesn't pose much of a threat, I could easily write an applet which could cause all sorts of evil mayhem without doing more than write a file or two. xD

I spent two years in high school learning the language and placed 2nd in the regional competition. So yah. Bad idea nee?~ (But of course, we all know how dangerous running applets can be)

Well, javascript is what runs the forum (eg Quick Reply, VM's, and more) with PHP along with it.

But, as javascript (inline, at least) is HTML, you can't use it either way.
