Quilla
Character Name: Quilla Gafnit
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Appearance:
<-- What her hat looks like
Stands 5'2" tall and boasts an almost hourglass-y "pear" shaped frame, as she boasts awkwardly huge hips. This is perhaps exaggerated by her clothing. Quilla wears a strapless, highlighter yellow jumper; the bottom part is like shorts, which are poofy and rounded, making it appear as if her upper legs were giant balloons, and comes to a tight drawstring close a few inches above her knee. The neck of the jumper rides just below her collarbone and is lined in black. On either side of the neck of her jumper, there is a plastic, cartoon-like skull sewn on: one boasting an angry face, and the other a sad one. There are in memorial of two pokemon she loved as a child. Around her waist is a tight black strip on the jumper and also a neon pink belt which is too loose. Her hair is mostly gathered up in a poofy yellow hat that matches her jumpsuit, but her bangs are left loose, with a strand on either side long enough to reach a few inches past her shoulders. Her bangs are pinned out of her way on the left side with a neon pink star-shaped clip. Her hair is a vibrant purple color, the sort that seems as if it would look wild under a blacklight. Three small brown freckles are apparent under her right eye, arranged in an upside down triangle. Various other odd blotches of freckles can also be seen on her neck, shoulders, and legs, though the pattern is never consistent. Quilla's eyes are rounded and somewhat large; they are blue. She also wears a pair of opaque tights that match the color of her hair, and over them a loose pair of "Drifloon shoes"; a pair of light-as-air sneakers that are colored to resemble a Drifloon, complete with a yellow X on the front of the toes. Each of Quilla's wrists are weighed down with bangles of various widths and neon colors; the only thing that they have in common is that they are for the most part too loose on her skinny wrists. On each of Quilla's upper arm is a strip of fabric, like a wrist-band, that is neon pink and has the badges she has won sewn on.
Personality: Easily distracted, naive, quirky-- does a lot of things that seem inexplicable to others(such as painting her Pokeballs with nail polish) but make perfect sense to her in a backwards sort of way. Often acts upon a whim. Friendly, but sometimes easily annoyed or confused. When overly confused, Quilla tends to panic. She sees her Pokemon as people equal to her, and becomes infuriated if she sees others mistreat them.
History: Born in Violet City, Johto. Quilla spent most of her days there with her Father, Issac Gafnit. Her Mother, Melanie Gafnit, vanished when she was four without a trace. Only Issac seems to have an idea as to where Melanie could have gone, but he pretends not to know in order to protect Quilla. Issac, a retired trainer himself, spends the majority of his time inventing new kinds of shoes to market to young trainers in the hope of supporting himself and his family. However, financial troubles left behind by Quilla's mother are piled against him and keep him constantly in debt. This caused Quilla to begin her Pokemon journey when she turned eleven: she helped around the house as much as she could before finally insisting upon becoming a walking advertisement and saleswoman for Issac's designs. While the Gafnit shoe brand is not yet famous, the few that have swear to it for it's unique and cute designs and outstanding comfort. The shoes are especially popular amoungst children. Quilla carries a backpack full of shoes with her at all times.
As a child, Quilla had few worries other than not being supplied with the same comforts and expensive toys as other children. She happily grew beside her Father's Growlithe and Umbreon, the two pokemon commemorated on her clothing, who were injured and grew sick after her Mother vanished. Melanie's absense did not shake Quilla for long, as many believed it would; in fact, she came out of the experience with more optimism and cheer than ever before. However, she did develop a number of quirky habits due to her Father's lax parenting, and seems to have a short attention span and an inability to grasp what is appropriate to say or do socially. Quilla has never given up on the hope that, one day, she will find her Mother and be able to impress her with brilliant Pokemon. By striving to become the best trainer she can be, she hopes not only to make Gafnit Shoes a famous brand, but to catch the attention of her mother as well.
RP Sample: The stream rippled quietly near her feet; the sun shone down upon the water, reflecting the area with little dots of brilliant light. Quilla stretched her arms above her head and yawned, then let them drop behind her into the grass. She stretched her feet before her and looked at the sky, smiling. Quilla considered how delicious the sandwich that she had just eaten had been, closing her eyes and letting the sun shine down on her face. Thinking about the sandwich made her think about the cucumbers that had been used to make it...which, in turn, made her visualize her Father's garden all the way back home in Violet City. Next, she wondered how things were back in the city, and soon Quilla was lost in thought. She opened her eyes to stare at the great blue sky, and noticed a pidgey streak through a cloud. Quickly, Quilla sat up, and looked to her left where Totodile had been eating moments before.
"Totodile, look, a-- Totodile?"
Where the Pokemon had been, now there was simply a patch of smooshed grass.
"Totodile? Totodile! Where are you?" Quilla called, shifting around and looking all directions nervously. She finally jumped to her feet, glancing this way and that in a tizzy. Finally Quilla's eyes snagged on a blue shape on the water down the stream: her Totodile laying on it's back and peddling it's feet, enjoying the cool water. Quilla sighed with relief.
Pokémon:
Species: Totodile
Level: 30
Nickname: None
Gender: Male
Moveset: Bite, Cut, Water Gun, Flail
Nature: Jolly
Description: Totodile was Quilla's starter Pokemon. He loves to eat and play tricks on his trainer; but despite the distress that he often causes her, he loves her very much. Totodile enjoys swimming to find things, especially if they are shiny or interesting colors. Very hyperactive.
Extra: Holds an Everstone, one of two given to Quilla by her Father.
Species: Haunter
Level: 28
Gender: Male
Moveset: Mean Look, Lick, Curse, Hypnosis
Nature: Serious
Description: Met as a Ghastly in the forest. Quilla caught Haunter by complete accident; he startled her while she was looking for Totodile one night, and in total panic, she hurled the first thing she could grab at Haunter's head: a Great Ball that her Father had given her for good luck. It caught him, and while Quilla was(and is) still scared of Haunter, she felt bad for capturing a Pokemon she didn't want and thought that he probably had feelings too. Thus she decided to raise him and attempt to build a friendship. Quilla is extremely nervous around Haunter, but despite his constant annoyance with her he has become somewhat protective of her. Haunter enjoys taking naps, and finds anyone who is too noisy or hyperactive to be extremely irritating.
Species: Dratini
Level: 30
Gender: Female
Moveset: Twister, Wrap, Dragon Rage, Thunder Wave
Nature: Shy
Description: Dratini was given to Quilla as a mystery egg when she and one of her best friends from Violet City found it in the Safari Zone. Quilla cared for the egg lovingly and, finally, it hatched into a very shy Dratini. This Dratini is smaller than most, and tends to hide behind Quilla whenever a particularly loud or big pokemon is present. Despite this, Dratini will do anything for Quilla, even if scared or nervous while doing it.
Extra: Holds an Everstone, one of two given to Quilla by her Father.
