Well, if anyone watched the Pokémon Chronicles series. This was the episode where the Mayors Son went to get his first Pokémon, being a pain in the backside. The three baby starter Pokémon had escaped though after Ash's Tauros charged through the lab and blah blah. The mayors son really bonded with squirtle and bulbasaur when they found them. He chose Bulbasaur in the end after saving it from aload of Primeape.

Anyone else want to see how he's doing? Only Ash and Gary were recognised trainers from Pallet Town, the other two that started the same time as Gary and Ash were mentioned a few times, but didn't get all the badges in time for the Indigo League. They weren't ever mentioned again. You think the mayors son's Bulbasaur has evolved? Or he has done well in the Indigo League, or another region. Has he joined the curse of Pokémon Contests? I want to see this character more in depth. I'm bored of the same characters all the time.

Yeah, it would be good if he had a couple episodes if they re-newed Chronicles. His beginning mirrored Dawns, as the starters ran away so he may crop up in DP but Ash doesn't know him so it may only be a cameo, but that is if Gilbert was popular in Japan, if he wasn't then there is no point.
