Just Had A Horrible Thought While Watching Pokemon Heroes

    I was watching the movie when something one of the characters said gave me a horrible thought. Someone mentioned that they were near a good seafood place. What would the seafood of the Pokemon world be? Would they be eating Pokemon like Magikarp, Feebas and Corphish?? As far as I;m aware there aren't any animals/fish in the Pokemon world that aren't considered pokemon.nGod that would ruin my childhood if the people ate Pokemon.
     
    Animals actually exist in the Pokemon world.
    Here are some (old) images thanks to bulbapedia. However mentions of animals are very rare, I'm not sure if these images actually aired in dubbed episodes

    Yeah I don't really get it. Like the pokedex will call a pokemon, "the spider pokemon" (for example) but how do they know what a spider is? Seems strange that pokemon based off animals, would exist in the same universe as said animals.
     
    In the earlier seasons animals were present, the dex mentions Pokemon preying on them, mostly fish or insects. I would have thought that people raised animals for eating.
    This was gradually phased out in later series until Pokemon are kind of assumed to be the only form of wildlife.
    I have thought about the possibility of the people eating Pok?mon. Yes they are sentient beings, but they are often treated like animals more or less. All those fishermen are supposedly making a living for their time. And in GSC, one of Team Rocket's schemes was selling the tails of slowpoke for food.
     
    Yup. Early anime episodes has plenty of time mentioned 'hot dogs' or 'cheeseburgers'. Imagine an abbatoir, full of Tauros, Tepig, Combusken, etc. getting slaughtered for the consumption of beef...

    If I'd live in the Pok?mon World, good chance that i'd be a vegatarian...
