UPDATE: I went with Kingler, Hitmonchan, Delphox, Crobat, Meloetta, and Giratina. After less than a month of competitive battle experience, I finished with 11 wins and 19 losses. One of those losses happened when I dropped my 3DS, and of the remaining 18 losses, all but two were very close matches.
As I expected, the "core" allowed me to disrupt enemy momentum, and take down even very powerful Pokémon like Groudon and Jolteon before sending out the finishers. Crobat put in a lot of work with Taunt+Cross Poison as well. I didn't have any trouble with the Ferrothorn I came across, but Gliscor proved incredibly difficult to beat.
Kinda surprising that there are over two hundred views, but no helpful tips. That's fine though, since I'm building an entirely new team around my two star players. I am still open to suggestions for this team, like how to deal with the specific threats I mentioned or better combinations from my available selection of Pokémon.

Hey PC I could use some help here! I'm working on a doubles team for the upcoming Battle of Legends online competition. I'm going to list the Pokemon I have available to assemble into a team. I've decided on only two members:
"Cookie" the Hyper Cutter Kingler @ Quick Claw
Nature: Adamant (-S.ATK, +ATK)
2V: 31 DEF, 31 S.DEF
Crabhammer - Rock Slide - Wide Guard - Ally Switch
"Buster" the Iron Fist Hitmonchan @ Black Belt
Nature: Impish (-S.ATK, +DEF)
4V: HP, ATK, S.DEF, SPE
Feint - Fake Out - Quick Guard - Mach Punch
I chose these two not because of relative strength, but because they're two of my favorites. Their movesets are intended to be unpredictable and disruptive. I'm certainly open to criticism about these two, though they are staying put. I'm not neccessarily looking to build a team around these two, but I'm not opposed to doing so, either :]
I've bred up a nice Dragonite that I may be using:
"Sharkbait" the Multiscale Dragonite @ Silk Scarf
Nature: Adamant (-S.ATK, +ATK)
1V: HP
Extremespeed - Waterfall - Rock Slide - Protect
Dragonite's got the same attack types as Hitmonchan and Kingler, but hits a lot harder. Not sure on this one. It also has access to Supersonic and Dragonbreath, since it hatched with those two moves.
This competition allows up to two mythical Pokemon, so I'm definitely taking advantage of that. Here are the legendaries I have available:
Jirachi @ Lax Incense
Nature: Naive (-S.DEF, +SPE)
Energy Ball - Iron Head - Helping Hand - Icy Wind (Trick Room?)
"Kaos" the Giratina @ Leftovers
Nature: (-DEF, +S.ATK)
Shadow Force - Dragon Tail - Earth Power - Substitute
Cresselia
Nature: Adamant (-S.ATK, +ATK)
Ice Beam - Psycho Cut - Calm Mind - Moonlight
Meloetta
Nature: Hasty (-DEF, +SPE)
Relic Song - Close Combat - Teeter Dance - Psychic (?)
Shaymin @ Big Root
Nature: Jolly (-S.DEF, +SPE)
Leech Seed - Energy Ball - Dazzling Gleam - (?)
Celebi @ Big Root
Nature: Naughty (-S.DEF, +S.ATK)
Leech Seed - U-Turn (?) - Heal Bell (Heal Block?) - Energy Ball
Here are the rest of the Pokemon I have that I consider suitable for competitive play:
"Sizzle" the Blaze Delphox @ Mind Plate
Nature: Rash (-S.DEF, +S.ATK)
Psychic - Psyshock - Flamethrower - Will O Wisp
Overgrow Sceptile
Nature: Jolly (-S.ATK, SPE)
Lightning Rod Pikachu @ Light Ball
Nature: Naive (-S.DEF, +SPE)
Sing - Teeter Dance - Wild Charge - Thunderbolt (Thunder?)
"Tyrant" the Shiny Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Nature: Adamant (-S.ATK, +ATK)
Dragon Tail - Rock Slide (?) - Sky Drop - Smokescreen (?)
"Osiris" the Dusknoir
Nature: Brave (-SPE, +ATK)
Shadow Punch (Shadow Sneak?) - Ice Punch - Confuse Ray - Will O Wisp
"Fluffibell" the Static Ampharos @ Ampharosite (?)
Nature: Naive (-S.DEF, +SPE)
Rain Dance - Thunder - Reflect - Light Screen
"Miskreetah" the Inner Focus Crobat
Nature: Jolly (-S.ATK, +SPE)
Cross Poison - U-Turn - Confuse Ray - Mean Look (?)
"Rosenthal" the Sheer Force Mawile @ Mawilite
Nature: Careful (-S.ATK, +S.DEF)
Iron Head - Thunder Fang - Ice Fang - Fire Fang
Sheer Force Mawile @ Mawilite
Nature: Calm (-ATK, +S.DEF)
Flamethrower - Ice Beam - Flash Cannon - Fake Tears
"Pants Jr." the Moxie Scrafty
Nature: Brave (-SPE, +ATK)
Dragon Dance - Drain Punch - Ice Punch - Thunder Punch
"O' Malley" the Torrent Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Nature: Quiet (-SPE, +S.ATK)
Flash Cannon - Dragon Pulse - Aura Sphere - Water Pulse
"Ra" the Leaf Guard Leafeon
Nature: Hasty (-DEF, +SPE)
Leaf Blade - Attract - Helping Hand - (?)
"Demona" the Early Bird Houndoom @ Houndoominite
Nature: Lonely (-DEF, +ATK)
Flame Charge - Roar - Toxic - (?)
I suppose it might be good to pick a pair of legendaries that compliment Buster and Cookie, and then fill the remaining two slots with Pokémon that round the team out by covering weaknesses or whatnot. I would like to be able to use enemy weather changes to my advantage, or instead to have a weather changer of my own for the simple purpose of denying the enemy the weather they want. I have also had some success in using Roar and Dragon Tail to stop the enemy's momentum.
I should note that I have been having trouble in Battle Spot with enemy Azumarill and Ferrothorn. Current lineup includes Giratina, Jirachi, Blastoise, and Dragonite.
EDIT: I'm going to test out a new lineup of Giratina, Meloetta, Crobat, and Delphox. I would like to have Dusknoir with Gravity+Earthquake, but not sure if I can make that mesh with a team...
