leaf green team suggestions

ive played pokemon for years and decided to go back to my leaf green game but im not sure which pokemon to use but this is my planed team

venusaur
giga drain
synthsis
leech seed
toxic

vapoureon
ice beam
surf
rest
water pulse

OR
starmie
recover
psychic
surf
water pulse

arcanine (traded from fire red)
flamethrower
bite
strength
aerial ace

nidoking
megahorn
earthquake
brick break
?

primeape
karate chop
megakick/punch
thrash?
?
the only ones i defently want to keep are venusaur and arcanine though i may change to ninetails
also should i just have five pokemon or six

if you suggest a pokemon prefrably can it be an early game one

Venusaur - Toxic, Synthesis, Giga Drain, Body Slam
Nidoking - Earthquake, Sludge Bomb, Surf, Megahorn
Arcanine - Extremespeed, Flamethrower, Aerial Ace, Iron Tail
Primeape - Brick Break, Strength, Cross Chop, Mega Kick
Starmie - Recover, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Psychic
Aerodactyl - Rock Slide, Fly, Dragon Claw, Facade

Porygon Z's suggested team looks really good, although I noticed you said you would prefer suggested Pokemon to be obtainable rather early. Aerodactyl, which is not only obtained late in the game but also a pain to train up to near the levels of the Pokemon in your team prior to getting Aerodactly, could be probably be switched out for a Golem if you really care about catching it relatively early in the game. You would lose a ton of speed if you sub Aerodactyl for Golem, but overall I don't think it would be a negative change at all for non-competitive gameplay.
I would run Rock Slide, Earthquake, Explosion, Double Edge, with Rock Head ability so you don't take recoil from Double Edge if you do choose Golem.
