*SPOILER WARNING IF YOU HAVENT AT LEAST BEATEN THE 4th NOBLE POKÉMON STOP READING NOW*
Okay, don't just write this off and call me a crack pot, but I believe Legends has basically shown off what game is coming next, and I don't think it's Gen 9. While playing the game, I've been geeking out over all the little references here and there, trying to find all the ancestors of modern characters, like Clover and Candice, and Arezu and Mars.
Then I got to the Electrode area, and I was taken a back when I realized that Ingo was in the game, Battle Subway Ingo, and I got wondering what other characters and Pokémon (Porygon must have since it's man made) came through the Space Time Rift. Then it hit me. I believe the next games we will get are the Gen 5 remakes. Seriously Gen 5 has more of a presence in this game than any other Gen except of course Gen 4. The first Warden is a obvious reference to Clay, we have Ingo himself showing up, 2 of the ride Pokémon are Unovan, one of the starters is a Gen 5 starter. And we've got Pokémon Sleep coming up, what games had a whole part of it dedicated to making Pokémon sleep? Black, and White.
Plus GAME FREAK aren't the one doing the remakes now, BDSP we're down by a different studio, so it's very possible that they hopped on Gen 5 as soon as BDSP was out the door. I personally believe that Arceus was really a test game (one reason why it's so short. Seriously Im only like 20 hours in and already about to go to the snow area) , to get GF used to the engine and making a game in that style, and that we will see an open world Gen 9, in mid to late 2023, and the Gen 5 remakes in late 2022, since it will have a shorter development cycle, since well the blueprint is already there, compared to a full blown new region with towns, cities, gyms etc.
