I don't really know what blogs are for, but I just want to make one for the fun of it.
I was thinking about going over my battle strategy here, so that's what I'm going to do. I'll talk about my 4 Pokemon team in Pokemon Showdown which I use in National Dex and could use in Gen 7 OU. It is composed of a Cacturne, Stunfisk, Pikachu-Hoenn, and an Axew. Now this might sound like a really bad team, but it's fun to use especially when you win. Now to go through each Pokemon's strategy:
Cacturne "harley-barley.glit"
To explain the name, harley-barley.glitch.me didn't fit...
Harley's male but all of the sprites are female for Cacturne for some reason...
Now... to the strategy.
Cacturne's got pretty good attack and special attack stats, so it's pretty good if you use Swords Dance and Sucker Punch (You could sweep by just doing that), but since Sucker Punch only works if the opponent is going to use a damaging attack. That's why I used some physical moves, Needle Arm (for that 30% flinch chance. I know Cacturne's slow but it sounds good in theory.) and Fell Stinger (to raise attack if I knock out an opponent). These give Harley the chance to still attack if the opponent is a defensive or non-attacking Pokemon. Another thing is that I always use Harley first, in case I could just sweep the whole team.
Stunfisk "My Life"
Name explanation: Well Stunfisk looks sad, and my life is sad? I dunno. :)
Literally, My Life is the go-to Pokemon for fast, strong Pokemon because it can usually withstand attacks if they are not super effective. I have some stalling moves, also based on luck, heh, which I use to withstand stuff. I chose Attract because, you know, it's funny to see a Stunfisk immobilize another Pokemon because of love. Flash is what I use if the Pokemon can't be attracted or just to lower accuracy. Another thing good about My Life is that it has Static, and it makes the opponents Pokemon paralyzed quite a lot, but often right before it gets knocked out. :( But that helps if I want to achieve an Axew sweep. Earth Power and Discharge are just good moves with STAB.
Pikachu-Hoenn "Ash Ketchup"
Name Explanation: Well, Ash has a Pikachu, and Ketchem sounds like Ketchup, and Hoenn because Harley was in the Hoenn anime??
I really don't know why, but you always gotta have a Pikachu. Ash is actually pretty good due to the Light Ball, and of course, I used Ash's Pikachu's moveset in the Anime, heh. Volt Tackle is pretty useful for attacking all-out on opponents, especially if it is super effective. And Iron Tail's defense lowering secondary effect also helps set up for an Axew sweep. Thunderbolt is good if the opponent has lowered special defense (From My Life's Earth Power) or I don't want to take recoil. Quick Attack is a good priority move to finish off almost-fainted Pokemon. So yeah... Pikachu.
Axew "No U Axew"
Name Explanation: Well, No U and Axew rhyme and supports the irony of getting defeated by an Axew
The moment you've been waiting for... The Axew Sweep. So, to set up, I use Dragon Dance to boost attack and speed. If No U Axew has not fainted, then I can either use Night Slash or Outrage. Night Slash has a good crit chance, while Outrage just does a whole lot of damage. I used the last slot for Protect. This is good for stalling and getting rid of weather or terrain that boosts the opponent's Pokemon. Apparently, No U Axew can actually sweep (It must be very embarrassing to get sweeped by her). On another note, Rivalry can be useful to boost attack, if the opponent's Pokemon is genderless or female.
So what do you think of my mediocre four-Pokemon team? I find it fun to use, especially when I win.
