I want to give the player character a voice in the games. I really wanna hack BW, so I can give a voice to the female trainer (my favourite of the female trainers). How do I do this?

Generally you can just rewrite the dialogue or re-point it for the space to do so, although in this context it will probably railroad the player, as the main character is generally not supposed to just be a character. You could occasionally just portray the other person as reacting to an enquiry from them. Hopefully the player will be actively engaging with the game regardless, and such dialogue on their part in such a game can tend to shunt them out. Some games alter text colour for when the 'main character' is speaking, although this can be inadvertently comical, so you might want to try that if necessary to convey the difference.
