It's no secret that the Fifth Generation has a lot of legendary Pokémon. A lot found in the game... others in events. Four of Unova's Pokémon were event-only.

Genesect was the first Bug/Steel legendary. That's huge. Even though Scizor was a legend in our hearts... it still wasn't a legend unfortunately.

Keldeo was the extra addition to a trio. We felt for it and it entered our hearts.

Victini was literally America. And it was literally cute.

Towards the end of the life of the Fifth Generation Meloetta was released. It could change formes but it was otherwise just another legendary.

Let's turn the tables. Should Meloetta be regarded as a legendary? What if you found ingame - where would have you found it (like Lapras in GSC it could have been special without being a legend? If it absolutely had to be a legend... how would you improve its event? What events would have happened in game to obtain it?

On the side... which is your favourite forme?

I actually really liked Meloetta. Still do; when it comes to gen 5 event legendaries, there's tough competition with Victini for me because its event was more in-depth and it was released earlier so you had more time to spend with it. And Keldeo... Keldeo is super cute and I love it.

But Meloetta is very very cute too. I mean, this exists:

I love that its hair is a music staff and that it changes form from song to dance. I think I prefer the dance form more because of the Typing and that it puts its hair up, but I like the song form shiny a bit more (seriously, we need a shiny event Meloetta!).

If I could change the event, I would have that mysterious bard be harder to find. The idea of some wandering minstrel that you find in some back-alley cafe... It's really interesting. It's surrounded in a lot of mystery. But it's a bit too much mystery, if you ask me, especially when Victini got an entire Victory Island dedicated to its event! A new location wouldn't be necessary, but maybe a small little mission gets activated where you have to search across Unova to find him, and once it's complete, he'll return to that café and sing the Relic Song (which is beautiful, by the way!) with Meloetta. Maybe it could be connected in some way to the Relic Castle; although they don't quite use the same wording in Japanese, I find it interesting that they chose to name it "Relic Song" in English as opposed to "Ancient Song."

I think Meloetta is perfectly-suited as a legendary. A lot of more recent event legends don't have but a line or two of dialog associated with them in-game so at least Meloetta has something more.
