This is a story I've been developing for some time now and I was wondering what you guys think of it. It's undergoing extreme editing right now so any comments/opinions/critisisms/etc are appreciated.
Enjoy!

The sun enveloped the lakeside town of Lenshall in a bright, midday glow. There was a gentle breeze in the air, accompanied, by the slightest taste of salt that came as a result of the town?s costal position.
Fishing ships rocked gently in the calm waters of the town?s dock where they had spent many of their previous years. Their bright sails flourished in the light as they danced gracefully in the wind that kissed the peaceful town.
Suddenly, a group of Seagulls rushed off the dock as a young male in his early teens rushed across it, pulling at his collar as he ran. His face was red and sweaty and his muscles ached from being pushed so hard in what was this young man?s most desperate moment.
He prayed that the distant image was just a mirage. He prayed that at the end of the dock he?d find her, still waiting for him. He?d waited so long for this day to come and he didn?t want to believe his days of torturous suspense had amounted to nothing.
He stopped on the edge and stared out across the small lake. A small opening in the white, stonewall was the only access to the ocean from the famous Lenshall Lake and he knew that that was the way they?d go.
He gave a sad sigh of defeat when he realised that the image was real and gripped the diamond, dolphin necklace in his hand tightly as he watched the boat slowly disappear. The wind blew; causing a few strands of his short, blonde hair to fall in front of his eyes. He slowly brushed them away with his hand as he tried to hold back ever-growing tears.
Another youth some years older than the first, and showing several signs of resemblance, approached him and placed a reassuring hand upon his shoulder.
?No luck?? he asked.
The youngest shook his head and stared down at his feet. ?I was too late,? he looked up at the other boy. ?What do I do now Alan? I might never see her again! I might never get to tell her how I feel! This was my only chance!?
?Yes you will,? Alan replied. ?Things always work out in the end and so will this.?
The youngest sighed. As much as he wanted to believe his older brother, he knew that the chances of ever seeing her again were near hopeless. She had spent most of her life moving from one place to another and now she was leaving this place. Leaving him alone, with only his aching heart for company. He?d finally been able to gather the courage to convey his feelings towards her but he had lost his chance and now, he would never see her again.
She and her father had rented a small boat, just big enough for them and their belongings, to take them to the next town a few hours away. After that, who knows where life would take her. All he knew, that her path would never lead back to him.
?Mark look!? Alan shouted suddenly.
Mark lifted his head and searched urgently across the lake for the sailboat only to spot it upside down in the water, no signs of life nearby.
?Jade!? Mark shouted at the top of his lungs as he dove into the depths of the lake. He poked his head up above the water. ?Fetch help, quickly!? Mark ordered his brother.
Alan nodded in response and ran quickly up the dock. Turning quickly the blonde-haired youth swam towards the capsized boat. Taking in a deep breath he dived into the water?s murky depths.
Beneath the surface it was dark and eerily silent. He spotted a figure lying motionless in the water; it was Jade?s father. Grabbing him tightly beneath his arms, Mark quickly pulled him to the surface and shoved Jade?s father into the only part of the boat above the water.
Then he once again dived into the lake, this time in hope of finding Jade. Four times he went under but to no prevail. Submerging once again, he thought he saw a dark figure moving away from him. Hoping it was Jade he pursued.
As it swam through a ray of light he was able to make out what it really was. Two people in diving suits were carrying a human sized object as they swam above the lake floor. It was Jade; he just knew it.
Desperate not to loose them, Mark followed. He could feel himself slowing due to the lack of oxygen in his lungs but knew that if he went up to take in air he?d loose sight of them.
He pushed himself hard in a desperate attempt to catch up but felt something wrap tightly around his ankle.
Looking down, he saw it was a piece of seaweed. He tugged at it trying to get it to release him but it refused. He looked back, watching the shadows disappearing from his view. Mark pulled desperately on the seaweed, he had to keep going, and he had to save her.
But suddenly he stopped. No longer able to hold his breath he fell back slightly, bubbles of air rushed out of his mouth for a brief moment but then there was nothing. His body floated there unconscious, the dolphin necklace still sparkling brightly in his hand.
Enjoy!
