I've decided to get back into the Pokemon TCG afer not playing for a while. I dug out my cards, with my decks still assembled. Here is what I believe was my best deck in its time, but as you can see, it consists of rather old cards. Can anyone give me some suggestions of newer cards I might be able to use that would help improve the deck?

    Deck Contents:

    Energy: (25)
    Grass Energy x21
    Double Colorless Energy x4

    Pokemon: (22)
    Charmander x4 (Base Set)
    Charmeleon x2 (Base Set)
    Charizard x2 (Base Set)
    Bulbasaur x4 (Base Set)
    Ivysaur x3 (Base Set)
    Venusaur x3 (Base Set)
    Chansey x4 (Base Set)

    Trainers: (13)
    Pokemon Breeder x3 (Base Set)
    Pokemon Trader x3 (Base Set)
    Pokemon Center x2 (Base Set)
Nightly Garbage Run x2 (Team Rocket)
Energy Retrieval x 3 (Base Set)

    Strategy:

Basically, the idea is to stall until you can bring out a Charizard, then use Venusaur's Energy Trans power to move all of your benched Pokemon's Grass Energy to Charizard. You then use Charizard's Energy Burn power to turn all those Grass and Double Colorless Energy into Fire Energy. That way, you can keep hitting the opponent's Pokemon for 100 damage each turn even though you have to discard two energy cards each time you attack. To heal, Energy Trans can be used to move all the energy to an undamaged Pokemon, and then play Pokemon Center- you won't have to discard energy like that. And in a pinch, Chansey and Venusaur are heavy hitters as well.

Well you have a few starter pokemon in it or alot of starter pokemon but I think you should get a lugia in it...or a few more dragons? But I'm crazy about lugia so I think that is what I would say to anyone,my deck is full of them...OK just 7.

Even if you want to use the deck on Unlimited, you would be dead in no time... And in response to Ultimatelugia, you can't have more than 4 cards with the same name on your deck, and, even if your 7 Lugias are placed legalwise in the deck, I think LBS has enough Lugias...

On-topic again: If you want a new, good deck, like modernize it, quoting you, you should pick all cards you have Ex: Deoxys upwards and put them on the possible deck list, and keeps the others in a sealed box...

For making a deck... I suggest you to buy 1-3 theme pre-constructed decks, each of a EX: Deoxys onwards set you liked, and some boosters. Then build a deck out of the better strategy you found in those cards...
