I've decided to get back into the Pokemon TCG afer not playing for a while. I dug out my cards, with my decks still assembled. Here is what I believe was my best deck in its time, but as you can see, it consists of rather old cards. Can anyone give me some suggestions of newer cards I might be able to use that would help improve the deck?
Deck Contents:
Energy: (25)
Grass Energy x21
Double Colorless Energy x4
Pokemon: (22)
Charmander x4 (Base Set)
Charmeleon x2 (Base Set)
Charizard x2 (Base Set)
Bulbasaur x4 (Base Set)
Ivysaur x3 (Base Set)
Venusaur x3 (Base Set)
Chansey x4 (Base Set)
Trainers: (13)
Pokemon Breeder x3 (Base Set)
Pokemon Trader x3 (Base Set)
Pokemon Center x2 (Base Set)
Nightly Garbage Run x2 (Team Rocket)
Energy Retrieval x 3 (Base Set)
Strategy:
Basically, the idea is to stall until you can bring out a Charizard, then use Venusaur's Energy Trans power to move all of your benched Pokemon's Grass Energy to Charizard. You then use Charizard's Energy Burn power to turn all those Grass and Double Colorless Energy into Fire Energy. That way, you can keep hitting the opponent's Pokemon for 100 damage each turn even though you have to discard two energy cards each time you attack. To heal, Energy Trans can be used to move all the energy to an undamaged Pokemon, and then play Pokemon Center- you won't have to discard energy like that. And in a pinch, Chansey and Venusaur are heavy hitters as well.
