ok people, here's a challenge for you guys

beat the game with a single type team.

    here's the rules

    1. all your team must be the same type of pokemon

    2. pokemon that evolve are allowed only if the evolution you
plan on using is of the type you choose.

    3. you may not use your starters unless it belongs to the type of your choise
i.e. you choose fighting, and you start with torchic, it'll be allowed 'cuz it
evolves into a fighting type pokemon.

    4. if when your pokemon evolves it's type changes from the type you chose
to a different type, you may use it so long as you do not evolve it.
i.e. choosing water and starting with surskit, you may not use masquerein.

    5. no legendaries, they're just in poor taste and they don't show off your
    skill as a trainer.

    6. occasionally for things like cut or flash you may have pokemon of other
types in your team but you may NOT use them for any battles.
their sole purpose is for hm moves that maybe the type you chose can't
    learn.

    7. the challenge will be considered complete upon defeating or catching
    rayquaza.

    8. no using multiple copies of the same pokemon.

    9. no more than 2 of your pokemon may have the same move

    10. no more than 2 of any pokemon in your team may have the same nature.

    11. no more than 2 pokemon in your team may carry the same item.

    now for the type restrictions

    the ony types allowed

    Bug
    Flying
    Normal
    ground
    water
    fighting
    fire
    grass

all the pokemon in your team MUST be 1 of those types.
duel types are allowed, all pokemon excluding legendaries are allowed.

oh and no ILLEGAL MOVES, i.e.
using your gameshark to teach your pokemon moves they can't learn
either from leveling up or breeding.

good luck to all, participants, post your progress often uh...that's it

    GOOD LUCK

    This seems like fun!
I have a question, I'm almost done with my game, defeated all the gym leaders, but can I still do it without restarting my game? This is what I was thinking of, capturing pokemon at low levels and training them until they are ready to battle the elite four. Then I'll capture rayquaza using that team.
If that's alright to do can I do that besides restarting my game? If not then I could just use my ruby version. The thing is I was going to let one of the little kids from the neighborhood use it.

    I don't see why some of the types are missing though... there's certainly enough poison type Pokemon to start a team for example. o.o;

sounds kinda hard...but I've mastered the ability to beat the game with just six pok?mon...I could use a new type of challenge

it's not that hard... it can't be any other than "Chikorita only" =)

really you just need to be patient and high level... high level beats all within ingame battles

Yeah but remember you have limits, since certain badges give you authority over the higher level monsters. Although that's not really a problem after you've got the level 50 badge.

But yeah, why are some types missing? You shouldn't put restrictions on it (unless, like I suspect, you copied this idea from Serebii.net, who have the same restrictions). I mean, someone could run through with a Dark team if they want. They'll be stuck with just Poochyena for quite a while, but hey. :D

    It's not like you'll have a ground type all the way until Granite cave either o.o;

really all type should be allowed. They can just disobey species clause and have mutiple of the same Pokemon. Pokemon like Salamence can do a whole lot ranging from physical sweep to special sweep. It makes a darn good flying type team member as Salamence is one of the last flying types who can special sweep in RS without legendaries =)

Even though it wasn't listed, I've done well with a Dark team. I had Sapphire so I was lucky with Sableye, but Ruby people can start off earlier with a Seedot who evolves into a Dark type. And there are enough Dark Pokemon later in the game to make a team (Sharpedo, Cacturne, Absol, Crawdaunt). I don't understand why more than 2 Pokemon can't share natures and moves. Oh yeah, and Poison WAS allowed in that Serebii thread.

I have also beaten the game with the Fighting and Grass challenges.
