    I'm pretty sure on the move set but i need help on everthing else. DD isn't enough, you could use Agility but I like Choice Scarf much better. Use the Earthslide combo, it covers a lot of ground

    the feraligatr looks fine to me. and roar is a popular choice on steelix
     
    Ya I think I'm going to keep Feraligatr how it is, but thanks for a suggestion on the EV's. I ws only thinking Iron Tail for Steelix because its STABed and I'm a little uncomfortable using a randomed move, except with Steelix's horrible speed in the first place it shouldn't be much of a problem.

    for Steelix I'll definately consider that but I'm not a huge fan of Stone Edge and I'd like to try a Fang on it, For maybe Experimental reasons. I think it could yet prove useful. Of course, with its defenses I could try Rest. I might stick with Stone Edge to. Unless I get 100% sold I think I'll try it ourt in some experimental battles.

    Any more suggestions (I appriciate all).

    feraligatr is quite bulky and should be used to take physical hits and shoot them right back at the foe. if you go with Choice Band, give it all attack moves. if you want it to have Dragon Dance, then give it Leftovers or Enigma Berry and replace brick break with Dragon Dance. believe or not, but he makes for an awesome starter.

    i personally prefer iron tail because steelix gets walled by other steel types anyway. if you don't have a counter for steel types, be sure to give it Roar.

    Since the Op brought up the subject of a Steelix moveset, has anyone tried a sleep talking Steelix? I'm curious to see how it works out.

    Okay as I have recently found out that it is impossible to breed both DD and Ice Punch on to a Totodile, as I overlooked the fact that ONLY males can pass on Egg moves. Having said that and looking over Samsons Defensive geared EV spread, I'm thinking do I really need the speed boost from DD or not.

    So i have to options

    Feraligatr
    Impish
    Dragon Dance
    Ice Fang
    Waterfall
    Earhtquake/Crunch etc. (i have SO mamy pokemon with Earthquake)

    or

    Swords Dance
    Ice Punch
    Waterfall
    EQ/Crunch etc...

    I like the Defensive EV set and Swords Dance would be more than enough for getting my Attack well over 300. But DD could help me out speed pokemon. I'm kinda leaning towards the Swords Dance set but It took me 74 eggs to get a Impish Totodile with DD and I don't want to do it again with Ice Punch but I will if I have to.

    Also how badly do I need Earthquake, I have an Aerodactyl, Mamoswine, Steelix, Electivire and probabley others i'm forgetting about with it. (of course not all of those pokemon will be on the same team.)

    All opinions will be appreciated.
